Metal Gear solid 2 Sons of Liberty was my first mgs games I played, which I thought was amazing (besides the naked raiden part)
Then Snake Eater, which I thought was even better game
then Guns of Patriots was also amazing games, but not better than the others.

That was the last metal gear solid game I've played a long time ago. I want to play the rest of metal gear solid games after guns of patriots. Anything available on pc. but Im just wondering.. are any of them any better? and feel the same? I've heard some bad reviews, but not sure which one.

do I have to play it in order? to understand the story?

Even Kojima is unable to understand the whole story :D
Anyway, as far as i know someone fixed the first Metal Gear Solid that was released for PC (MGS:Integral), so it's now playable on modern PCs, If you have played MGS2-3-4, then you need to play both MSX versions "Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2", not mandatory, but it's the same world. MGS5 is before the main story but AFTER MGS3 and the two PSP MGS (Portable Ops (semi-canon) and Peace Walker (canon, direct prequel of Ground Zeroes).

MGSV I can recommend but get it on sale if you don't feel like getting it for the current price.

There are some elements of the game I don't like (FOBs are not fun to me. I wanted a single player experience, not this)
and yea it feels a little rushed but what the game gives you is a playground where you can make your own fun. I feel this is what
makes the game great. I can roleplay as Big Boss and go all full stealth but as soon as I get bored of that I can go in guns blazing
while Flight of the Valkyries plays in the background as a chopper assists me in mowing down some mercs.

.............in comparison, I finished a the campaign early, but still playing today the game, in particular the FOB mode. It's been more than 800 hours in this game mode, very fun to me.

This is what I mean, the game gives you something you'll enjoy. I'm glad you like FOB mate, I just really couldn't get into it.
Every time I get the notif to defend my FOB during a mission it just annoyed the hell out of me haha

All you need is Revengeance and MGSV. I cannot recommend them enough.

You can watch some YouTube videos to try to understand the story. They should be able to catch you up.

mgs5 gets a bit repetitive after a while, but it's a good game i guess.

hey guys, apparently, there are 2 metal gear solid 5. Phantom Pain and Ground Zero?
I will eventually get them both, but which one should I get first?

Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are like Tanker and Big Shell of MGS2, except sold separately. You should start with Ground Zeroes. You can also get MGSV Definitive Experience that contains both of those in one pack plus some extra in-game stuff.

You have to play them in order of release, yes. You can play PSP versions using a PPSSPP emulator.
You can skip Portable Ops if you want, but Peace Walker is crucial to understanding MGSV, and it's really worth playing. You'll miss out if you skip it.
Revengeance shits on Guns of the Patriots ending, Raiden's character, the entire Metal Gear story and every message it tried to deliver over the years. Keep that in mind if you decide to play it following the praising reviews by people who couldn't care less about Metal Gear or who considered its story laughable to begin with.
And yes, MGS1 is priority 1. If you haven't played it before, forget about every other game in the series and play that one.

Metal gear solid 1 is a must play best game of series, rest are good as-well. You don't have to play in order just play the ones you didn't try.

Play them all. You won't regret it. In case you don't know, there's a remake of Metal Gear Solid (1) that was made exclusively for the Nintendo Gamecube, that looks really good. And of course, the Collection for PS3 and PS4.

I've played them all, from NES up to V. MGS3 still remains the best-written and best experience for me, but MGS1 was great for its creativity and voice acting. They're staples of gaming history; you could do much worse.
