That would be so retarded if he gets a 2 week ban and another ban for not sharing the copys because he couldnt take a look ? :D

no one has received a gift from you for the past 2 weeks

Maybe because he was suspended during these 2 weeks and couldn't send the games.

Being suspended kinda makes it hard to reach your winners, although I've seen people get creative in the past and manage to deliver anyway.

Well yes that's what I was saying ^^ I guess you can't press the send key button or see the winner's mail if you are suspended

The number to the right of "pending" shows 5 replies. I don't know why he's complaining about this ticket, because that ticket was answered 11 months ago, but we're still waiting on him to supply proof...

  1. There is a "Unsuspend request" for a reason.
  2. This is a suggestion section, I'm suggesting we should have a look over the support system and improve on it.
  3. I'm not whining

I kind of regret making this thread due to the fact that it has attracted people like you, I should of just contacted mods privately.

Not that they are slow..its okay..to much tickets and not much crew..but they need a kind of supervisor..every mod is like a god and acts for his own..sure you can tell cg about it..but i guess he has enough to do.
A friend of mine was suspended for two days from a mod for using the simple word "no offense" and telling his opinion in a sentence. The other day he reported someone how insulted a person with "die to Ebola"..and guess what..that wasnt even a reason for a suspension!

Dont get me wrong, some of the crew are very kind and helpful, but control would be nice...i worked for a support team of an MMO and this was way better organized

Yes they are volunteers..but i guess the get a present one day or another. ;).

I thought that was what a supervisor did though? Nothing while the others below them did everything while the supervisor takes the credit.

We don't need a "better" support team, we need a "bigger" one.

We have to remember that they're all doing this out of their free time on a volunteer basis. The site has a huge community and that means a lot of support tickets to handle by a very small group of individuals.

We all wish our tickets would be resolved faster, but we have to accept the fact that these guys are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

It's what i meant to say, bigger support team would be better.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not necessarily easy to find responsible people willing to take abuse from the users on their free time.

There's also the fact that "Support" can't even handle unsuspend requests. You need a "Moderator" for that. We have a grand total of 4 persons who have access to those tickets, including cg himself.

Although I don't think it's necessarily easy, I do think it is possible to find responsible individuals willing to help it just takes some time and there is always the possibility of removing an support member if they could not handle themselves in a proper manner.

I'd say it just takes a bit of time to make sure the person found is right for the position. It could be that current support staff will each find one candidate they think will fit the position and then go based off that.

Of course that means that the support staff need to do a bit more work to find the candidate but it's not like it has to be done immediately, sooner rather than later would be nice but in the end if it's not done it's the same as not adding staff :)

Hell, I usually have to pay people to abuse me on my free time, but that's a different matter altogether.

I'm agree

Well it's not exactly more support we need, but more mods, since support is handling what they can handle fast enough.
The backlog is for things like user reports, unsuspension requests, ... and support can't do that.

So either they need to promote the more experienced supports to mods and replace them with new supports, or give supports more permissions, or add a new role that would be what supermod is to mod for support, a support with a few extra permisisons.

You are free to give the site a few hundred dollars a day to hire support staff. If you are unwilling to do that, we, you have no room to complain that the volunteer staff for your free to use charity site cant keep up.

No. The support team we have does their job well. We have not enough support members, that is the problem, not the quality of the support we have

One thing I never understood though is why we don't have more support members. Is there a limit? I know there are a handful of active members in the community who are more than qualified/willing to help, so why not enlist them? Or am I missing something

Also, I like this group of support. They've been around and for the most part do a good job

Its unlikely to be a size limit, but more so that they want to keep things tidy, in-house. It takes time to properly vet people before you put them in a position of authority. Plus, it has to be people that are willing to work for free.

Might just be me, but I see one ad-spot (unless I overlooked), so that's why I'm questioning the 'a lot of money'-part.
Sure they get income, but from what I can estimate, not that much....definitely not pay for an actual full-time large support staff.

Bullshit. It's barely enough to run the website.

Also, support definitely aren't being paid. I can assure you that nobody is profiting from Steamgifts other than the users. All of the support members are volunteer... Basically, Steamgifts isn't a registered company or anything like that. Just people working together to keep a community functioning.

To be honest, why cal out 'can we get a better support team'' and then go "It's what i meant to say, bigger support team would be better".

Quite frankly I think the support team is doing a good job, considering the large amount of (often pointless) tickets they get and the limited manpower they have. That being said...not everyone is cut out to give support, so you can't just let anyone join the team. (Trust me on that).

bigger support team = quicker support = better support

it's essentially the same thing

No. That premise follows several flawed assumptions.

First, you prioritized quantity over quality. If you have 500 people that sit around, fuck off, generally doing nothing but bullshitting and bad mouthing, that will not be inherently quicker than 50 dedicated people who spend all their time actively doing the required workload to the best of their abilities.
Therefore bigger =/= quicker =/= better, as all following premises are made flawed by the fundamental flaw in the first.

Furthermore, quicker =/= better. If it did, there would be no need for support staff. You could write an algorithm to resolve everything for you: Parse data, ban everyone for everything that slightly deviated from a totally unbent, absolutely literal interpretation of the rules. Alternatively, it would be still yet quicker to just offer no support at all. Something happened? Fuck it, not my problem, fix it yourself.

Since NEITHER bigger nor quicker = better, everything about your premise is flawed.

While it would be fantastic if there were more dedicated people to help support this site, not everyone is cut out for a gig like that. I've worked years of customer service, and you can see just how very much some people are NOT cut out for it at any level. It takes the right kind of people to work with people, often very angry and frustrated people, and manage to keep that person's best interests in mind, care for them whilst trying to remain unflappable and unphased by the ire misdirected onto them.

It takes a whole other tier of dedication to do that, but for free, and on a website that has hundreds of thousands of accounts active on it. It's a serious job, I'm sure with serious stress, and taking up some serious time, and all being done by people willing to dedicate that kind of commitment for free.

Considering all the factors involved, I'm surprised the staff isn't even smaller than it is, and I'm extra surprised by how well they operate given the conditions. I appreciate our staff here immensely, and I respect them even more for what they do.

Same happened to me, I was banned for something that SHOULDN'T be a ban reason, luckily I found CG on chatroom and he kindly unbanned me. I was just banned for 2 days instead of 2 weeks but it's still frustrating, my support tickets constantly closed by the same support member who banned me.

We certainly need a better support, I nominate you.
