Hey guys!

A buddy of mine wanted to enter Steamgifts, he has a retail version Dirt 3 on his account, but he got an error of having games of 0.00 dollar value. Iam not sure whether a Dirt 3 would normally beat the 50.00 dollar minimum, but it surely worth more than 0.00 :D He also tried SteamCalculator, but 0 value is shown there, too.

I think retail versions increase value, too, but I might be mistaken.

Could someone help?

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't count games that are considered exploited.

It should still appear on SteamCalculator, shouldn't it? I own Portal 2 and AI War, but both of those add to the total. Or do retail copies not count on that but Steam-bought versions do?

Site doesn't use steamcalculator.

Correct, we have our own custom system that performs the calculations, excluding certain titles considered exploited.

I don't think that's what he's getting at. He's accepted that this site doesn't count it for $whatever_reason but, unless SteamCalculator uses similar rules to exclude exploited games, SteamCalculator should register more than $0.00. It doesn't so he's asking if anyone knows why.
[EDIT]
Seems the retail version is GFWL only so that's why it won't show up on either, not because it's exploited but because it's not a Steam game.

You've been able to get the Dark Messiah keys for free for years. It's a bonus when you sign up for a newsletter on some European game news site, I think.

In case anyone didn't know, when there is a free weekend of a game on steam, the value of the game gets saved to your steamgifts profile when you enter the free weekend...

Retails copies of Dirt 3 use GFWL only. The only way to get Dirt 3 on steam is to either buy it there, get an AMD product that comes with a Dirt 3 voucher or use an exploited key. I'm guessing your friend has done the 2nd or 3rd, in which case NO, it won't count here.

Also, again, where is that site that offers Dark Messiah for free?

It's multiplayer key only. No idea if the single versio was availible previously. And the site isn't illegal itself, the way of obtaining the keys through proxy are.
