Why or why not?

Voted :D. I would just let the guy get it since he was the only one that was able to get there and fit requirements.

Unless you're giving away a shitload of games, like with the developer giveaways, I think it kind of beats the point. For example if you make a giveaway and only let one person enter, you might as well just give them the game. No need to make a giveaway for it.

Though if it was something like a puzzle giveaway and only one person solves it, I think they deserve to win the prize.

Because many would delete, even if some of them pretend and say they wouldn't, and I also understand why; there are enough people out there who are just after CV.

I would stare at that 0 and when it suddenly turned into another number, exclaim "Somebody loves me!"

Here's a better question. What if there's only 1 entry and you ask for a reroll(and for a reason)?

FFS, I've seen this twice in two days. I just delete the damn giveaway and move on.

Look at my list, I have a few single entries. DLC ones are the only ones I would delete, because it is hard to check ownership of a lot of them with group checkers. They just don't register properly.

I do put that fact into the description before hand though.

Delete the giveaway. Otherwise we'll have people gifting to just 1 friend for CV. Nothing wrong with giving a game to a single friend, but shouldn't get full CV for doing so.

(Entries <= Copies) Don't get CV even if the winner marked it as received

You don't get CV if there is only one entry...

I've only had a couple of those in my giveaways. Don't really see why'd I'd be against them though. A giveaway is a giveaway. It'd be pretty shitty to rob someone of a win just because they were lucky enough to be the only entrant.

ye that's what I'm thinking too. I'm torn between 2 options

Delete = I'm an asshole that I didn't let that person win. But If I delete, then i can remake the giveaway to other group that has members that actually wanted the game

What if it were a puzzle? Someone spent 10 hours solving it, is the only one who got through, then BAM you delete the giveaway because you only have one entry.

nah, it's a group giveaway. If it's a puzzle I won't ask this question

I've had it happen once, doing a bundle game in a group. I didn't care much, since I was already at the bundle limit. I'd be a little more annoyed if the game had some value.

I only give away bundle junk so it doesn't matter what I think... :)

Hmm, if I were to give away something good and only 1 person managed to enter I might feel differently, don't know. Good luck! :)

You can ask the person to leave and create 2x private giveaways with 2 entries each (1 of them is the "lonely one entrant")

I Have done both.
My opinion on it depends on both the game and the situation.

My general rule on it .. If I wanted to do a giveaway for just one person, Id gift them the game then, saving myself time and effort.

THe spirit of the site is to give gifts, but its also a lottery. So If Im gonna buy a game for another random person .. its gonna be random.

EDIT: I should say more clear. Ive deleted a giveaway BEFORE it ended, with advance notice to the person that would be winning.

Thanks to all that replied, decided to just leave it as it is since apparently (didn't noticed it) I did won an insta-win game too. So maybe it's a good way to giveaway back.

PS. 2 ppl has been added in the red tag, tnx to those 2 ppl who shared their wonderful opinions

I say if that happens I would always give them the game, they won it fair and square. It's not their fault nobody else entered so I don't see why they should be penalized for it and have their win/game taken away.

you sound like that the winner is already entitled so much upon winning that the giveaway creator doesn't have the right to appeal and delete his giveaway because he doesn't like that it is an insta-win.

They pretty much are entitled to the game. I mean, you created the giveaway to give away the game, and someone won the giveaway. Why does the number of entrants invalidate that? There's no official rule that says there has to be X amount of entries for the winner to be valid. And if that's a rule of your own, personal/custom giveaway rules have to be given permission before hand by a staff member, and it also has to be stated it in the giveaway. Otherwise you kinda owe them the game according to the rules of the site, since they won your giveaway and no rules were broken.

Besides, it's just a crappy thing to do in general to tell someone that, through no fault of their own, that they won't be getting the game that they legitimately won. It's like winning the lottery and then the state telling you "sorry, you don't get any money because not enough people played". It's simply not fair to the person that won at all.

AFAIK, it's not a matter of entries <= copies, but whether the total number of entrants is more than 1. I could be wrong about this, though. The staff should know more about this kind of stuff :x

hmmm, you're right. I always thought CV won't be added if it's entries <= copies. Maybe there' some special rule or number where that rule is ignored

if its a puzzle or such and only one was able to solve they deserve the advantage for being the only few persistent/smart enough to solve your crazy puzzle :), defeats the purpose if it creeps up on the end with only a few entries and it gets deleted or dropped in chat to pump up the numbers for the sake of having more numbers

I guess groups could be different depending on the criteria for the group and its size, but puzzles only a few entries I'd personally be happy somebody solved, and also that i made one hard enough to get that entry count(of course I'm too slothy to do a puzzle like that but if i had by accident I'd be proud lol)

besides if there isn't a valid reason to delete it seems silly/petty/unfair to do it just because I didn't want that guy to win (and a bit more if worried about having a 1 entry on my record especially since it'd show a deleted or failed to send anyway)

but thats just me personally. it'd depend on the gifter I guess.

also +1 what joeybenz said.
