Hello boys and girls.

As in my previous post, I continue to give away games because I felt bad for winning 8 of them in 4 days. The total of games given will be 37 by Friday.

When you finish the choo-choo train, please bump the thread :)

Also, post something pizza related!

I like the poll (of course voted for "pineapple pizza is not a pizza").

However, I can't withhold.
It's "pizza Margherita", not Margarita.
It's "pizza ai funghi" (pizza with mushrooms is just fine).
It's "pizza alla diavola", I don't understand why they call "pepperoni" the salame piccante... in Italy, these are peperoni (with one P).

Sorry for the corrections but I'm tired of seeing yankee distortions.

lol your peperoni are paprika... choosen the wrong picture ?

We have, italian, peperoni in the garden and import greece ones (i prefer the greece ones because the italian version is too spicy for my taste). So i know from what i talk :o)

Hmm... no?
Paprika is a powder and the fruits it's made of are called peperoni in Italy.
The spicy, hot peppers are called peperoncini (which means 'little peperoni') and those are the ones used to make the spicy salame you put on the pizza.

I am 1/8 italian and my family in germany and italy not called them this way.
Maybe differences from parts (of italy) to other parts.
Confusing me right now.

So let's say us in germany the ones on your picture are called Paprika (and sold in green, yellow and red.. all of them not spicy) and the smaller, more longer ones (greece ones in green and italian ones in green AND red -the small red ones are hell^^-) are called Peperoni (all spicy). Maybe the small red ones are peperoncini.

And for the Diavolo Salami they use -at least in germany- peperoni/peperoncini (it is different and you know it after the first bite^^)

Oh well, in Italy we have so many (very) different dialects with so many different names for the same things or for different varieties of similar products.
Generally, in Italy the word 'peperone' indicates the family of the fruits (like 'peppers'), but you usually use it for the big, sweet peppers (bell peppers); 'peperoncino' indicates spicy peppers; 'paprika' (or 'paprica') means pepper powder (sweet or spicy).

If in Italy I ask for a 'pizza ai peperoni', I expect a pizza with bell peppers. If I want a pizza with spicy salame, I need to ask for a 'pizza alla diavola'.

Doing some research now, I see that the American word 'pepperoni', indicating a spicy sausage/salame, is about one century old, so I understand it can't be 'corrected' anymore.
