This is a question, not a suggestion or complaint: I tried to give away several games the site doesn't currently recognize as valid options. So I opened a support ticket. That was some days ago. How long should I expect to wait for that to be resolved? (Should I expect it to be resolved at all?)

This depends. Is it a new game (these will be added automagically), a free game (these will stay gone for the most part) or a game thats been removed from steam (these need manually re-adding)

That makes sense.

Is there a way for me to figure out if they've ever been free? So far as I know the main one has not; and it's definitely still on Steam. It's a favorite of mine I happen to have an extra key for: SpaceChem.

Most games that has been given by free are still on steam, and were given for free by the developer on a third party site, like whoisgamingnow or indiegala as an example... though i don remember if spacechem was given for free

That bit was directed at flagrantnutwaffle's comment about games that have been pulled from Steam. But yeah, I don't think it was every given away. It is on the no-GA list thought, so perhaps it was exploited at some point.

Ah, things become clearer. :) Oh well. I'll just have to give it away the old fashioned way.

And, sure enough, no SpaceChem. Thanks for the info. Though it's a shame: it can't be had for free anymore.

A shame, indeed. Unfortunately, some type of system had to be implemented to prevent CV abuse. Whether or not this is the best approach is the topic of much debate.

If you'd really like to share it, you can drop the key in a forum post (most recommend obfuscating it to prevent a bot from scraping it) or creating a puzzle/quiz with the key shown to the first solver.

if they've been free they'll never be added? what about if there's DLC for them?

I put in a ticket for a game that has 2 DLC, but no listing for the main game, most likely because it has been a Free gift in the past.

Oh! and if they don't want games that are "Free Gifts" why is Overture still allowed?

That guy has given away over 30 GA's of 50 copies each, that's at least 1500 free game keys!

I've actually seen people that have won his GA twice somehow (Likely they did'nt redeem the 1st key, or Didn't Sync their acccount),
and they've tried to GA the 2nd copy and got suspended.

I mean, it's actually causing a disruption in the community, but He's still putting up 50 Copy GA's.

While I've never won it, and I do want it, I have no fear of NOT being able to get it, because there are Sooo many copies out there now!

i think it took over a year and a half or two years for metro 2033 to get into the giveaway list again, and then it was masivelly given again

If a game has been given away for free but has DLCs that haven't, they should be in the list. What are these DLCs you are trying to give away ?

Overture is still allowed, because you are not guaranteed to receive a key for it, you have to win it (and if you win it, you're supposed to activate it on your account)
Games that are removed are games that everyone can get, like Indie Gala giveaways (you just need to enter your mail and you are guaranteed to get a key).
Sometimes games that are given away for free but in smaller number remain in the list. For example, you could get a free key for XCOM: Enemy Unknownn some months ago, but it has only be given to people who took part in voting for the Golden Joystick Awards. So the game has not been removed from the list, but is is now considered bundled

It's Dino D-day, not the DLC for it. But it does have 2 DLC that are available for GA on this site.

However the main Game is not.

I believe it was a Free GA somewhere for awhile, and now it's no longer on the list, but the DLC still are.

I think it's Retarded that the main game isn't available, but the DLC's for it are.

If they're gonna block the Main Game, then they should block the DLC too, otherwise it's just stupid.

I mean people giving away the DLC without the main game is pointless.

Yes, it's true that the people that enter could already have the main game,
but we both know that some people that don't have it will enter anyway.

I don't understand your point at all.
Why should DLCs that have never been free be removed ? And why would it be pointless to give away a DLC without the base game ?
Of course there will probably be assholes who will enter without having the base game, but it's easy to check the winner and request a new one if they don't have the base game.

Well, I've never done a DLC only GA, nor do I intend to.

If I can't provide the base game, then I'm not likely to put it up for GA, unless the people I'm giving it too are basicly Guaranteed to have the base game.

I've done this with a few games, where the Group was the Official Game Group.

However I would'nt just throw some random DLC up for general entry.

That would mean that I'd have to not only check whether they have the Base game, but also whether they already owned the DLC, and I actually don't know how to do that, since as far as I know, a persons "Gamelist" only shows the "Games" they own, not the "DLC".
