Dont know. The last game that made me choke up, no joke SNES Lufia 2. Which is actually the prequel to Lufia 1 go figure. The story was fine, nothing great but at the very end (no spoilers) just this one line of text given the situation, and I'm feeling that tug in the back of my throat. That was almost 2 years ago, I still remember that moment.
