i love megaman and this one looks pretty good, but i really am not sure, if i like that it's rogue-like. i would prefer a classic design.

i'll just say that it's more rogue-like in the sense that when you die you start back from scratch. think of it as binding of isaac per se - during your runs you get a currency called Soul Nuts which can be used to unlock more items which you can find in-game. there's also only about 8 levels total (for now - will they expand it? can't remember) so the randomised level design (which are specific chunks of levels strung together) gives a good amount of replayability :)

sure, i know what rogue-like/rogue-lite means. ;)
i am saying that i prefer traditional platformers. with well designed levels (randomly generated levels are usually worse), and a beginning and an end. and if i die, i want to go back to a checkpoint or the beginning of the level. which also means the levels can be more difficult than the randomized levels in a rogue-like. i just like that better.

well, that sounds interesting. i am still skeptic. what i would want from the game is not really a complex plot or something (let's be honest, platformers very rarely have a good plot). it's more about the level and game design. and i somehow doubt they will completely go away from the rogue-like design. but i guess i will give the game a try anyway, once it's a little cheaper. it is an interesting game after all, even if i don't agree with the rogue-like thing. ;)

fantastic game, i'll agree with that - there's been updates every 2 weeks unlike most early access games so it's still being very actively worked on, all kinds of gameplay tweaks, revamps and improvements :)
heck - latest update vastly revamped the sky temple compared to the last time i played it!
have a bump :)

It looks really interesting. I like both MegaMan (though I played only the first part on NES) and roguelikes.

I came across this game earlier today and instantly fell in love.
Mega Man X meets the rogue-like genre.
Let that sink in for a minute.
So far it's amazing! It even has co-op/multiplayer!
It's in Early Access, which I know is an instant dealbreaker for many people, but give it a chance. People not supporting games during Early Access is the reason why a lot of them ultimately die and why we see so many games still in that state.
If you love Mega Man X, you will absolutely love 20XX. It definitely scratches that Mega Man itch since Capcom has been giving us the middle finger for the past few years.
