even the steam version you need to load uplay in order to play I understand then :( of it also I had a hard time getting past the inro in it but then I am really bad at fps games :(

If they told me in the first place it was uplay, I wouldn't be mad, it would be my fault but no information. I don't like Uplay at all. I'm not a Steam or die guy because I do like Origin but I just can't deal with uplay.

Always assume if outside of steam and it is a Ubi,EA or other wise game most likely it will need there client.I have never come across anything that needed Uplay to have steam keys, only within steam does it use steam.
This is a good thing to keep in mind, and also you can not blame them 100% because of your impulse buy,you could have took the time to find out what kind of key it was,you knew it did not state it but still gambled and ended up with snake eyes.
If in doubt always check
Still i am sorry it happen, the best you can do now is trade it or use it

But they didnt tell you that its an steam key. If they dont tel you that its a key for some client like steam, origin ... Then it can be a drm free download and its still ok, if no information os given then its not their fault that you asume its steam key

It is your fault because you lack knowledge about the product and then assumed something. Never assume something if you don't know.

This is what I found on their site,
Downloadable Content (DLC)
Digital Games
PC Downloads No refunds or exchanges

I just remembered, it's a different case for me. I bought a game then a day after, it was cheaper and I asked if I can get a refund on the difference.
Maybe try and just say that you forgot that you already owned it and was an impulse buy when you see it was so cheap lol

Shady? You forgot to check if it was for Steam, and they are shady? If you fail to do a bit of research, don't blame them. GameStop is a high repped reseller, so I doubt that they are shady. If they are shady, then what G2A is? :)
Make a screenshot about the page, because I always get an Internal Server Error. I guess if you are not from a certain country, you can't access it.

Actually, Uplay is not that bad. true, it could be a lot better, but it's managable.
usually if it doesn't work you need to reinstall the launcher not the game. stupid i know...
best way is to install the launcher and let it update all the way, than the game. and you can overlay it with steam if you really want to
but no information about client is wrong and should be done.
you could have probably asked here, and somebody would have known (i know, it's way easier to smarter after than before)

I think its just annoying to do all that but its not like steam and origin where its easy to use and not a waste of time. The client for me is buggy and difficult to use because of the menus. When I bought Assassins creed brotherhood and had to connect uplay, it took 30 minutes just to work it right and had to start up both clients just to play the game.

Says right on the page it could be a code for Steam, Uplay, or Origin. Anything made by Ubi is going to need Uplay and anything by EA is going to need Origin. Yeah it should say what one it needs but it should be easy to figure out since Uplay is Ubisofts client.

I don't know what's your problem with Uplay. I use Steam, Origin, Uplay, Desura, GoG Galaxy and Battle.net and although I like Steam better, neither of the clients that bad. Sometimes Uplay has connectivity issues, but mostly on the annual Assassin's Creed release. BTW even if you buy Far Cry 3 or Blood Dragon on Steam, they both use Uplay. You'll need Uplay and Steam to run them. Same with Watch_Dogs. Also I'd care about the game, not the program I need to play it. I have a few games on Uplay, AC:Revelations, Might and Magic Shades of Darkness, Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, Watch_Dogs. Yeah Steam is better, but Uplay isn't that bad.

I wanted to give the game away but its a uplay code.

Honestly I don't understand you. Don't be mad but you sound like someone with first world problems. Oh nay! I won't play this game because uplay is bad! I mean, seriously? I used Uplay few times and there is nothing hard to do there. I was forced once to use it when I was playing Driver San Francisco, but still I didn't encoutered any problems.
Anyway, when you instal a game, you install new program to your PC. When you finish it, you delete it. Can't you do the same thing with uplay? It will take you like 30 seconds! Think about it like about launcher or something like that.
Really, this game is gold, and if only reason that stops you from playing it is your childish hate through uplay, I have no words. Unless you just want to own games on steam but then there is a question - do you want to play a game or just show off too your steam friends?

I dont think you understand my problem. I wanted to give away the game. I'm can't give away uplay codes on steam gifts.

Yeah I completely agree with you. I saw they were selling dishonored for $1 once but instead I bought it on steam for $5 because they didn't provide any information on the drm. Rather be safe than sorry.

Gamestop's digital downloads have tax because the law says you have to charge tax to people who reside in a state in which you have a physical location. I live in Washington state, so I have to pay tax on Steam.
And it is standalone, as in you don't need FarCry 3 to play it, even though it is a FarCry 3 expansion.

Ok i understand that now why they have to charge it. Still dont like it but its understandable.

I like to know where the code goes to though. I dont care much about cv but knowing who got it and see if they play it or not is a nice thing to know.

haha i guess but i've tried out every game I won on this site unless they dont work on my computer.

Its a pet peeve of mine when persons get upset about a store "charging" you tax.

"Stand-alone game - does not require Far Cry® 3 to play."
That means Blood Dragon doesn't require FC3. It's got nothing to do with UPlay nor Steam. Not Gamestop's fault, you just assumed something and you were wrong.

Most sites include information saying that Steam is required IF it is. Since the screenshots that the OP provided further on in the discussion say nothing about Steam one would most likely assume that it was not a Steam version or they would have contacted the seller to find out more information before purchasing.
The OP chose not to. That's not the fault of GameStop.

I periodically get 5 dollar gift cards to gamestop from Bing from doing searches and I use them to buy games on gamestop to giveaway. They already suck because they charge tax on the games but I recently bought far cry blood dragon while it was on sale on the site. I checked the page just to make sure and it says nothing about the client. I assumed it was steam but when I bought it, it gave me a shiity uplay code. What the hell, I don't understand it. It tells you nothing about the client its on and even said this on its page, "Stand-alone game - does not require Far Cry® 3 to play." This is ridiculous not telling customers this information. I can't give it away and I rather not play it because I don't need another client to play games on.
