I was offered a copy of G17 and passed. It is just a little old and the combat & movement system is painfully slow turn based.
But, I'm now watching a gameplay series on YouTube and I think I'd like to play a game like G17, but more modern.

Can you make any recommendations on modern G17 like games with strong story?

Thanks.

Not troll answer at all. Much appreciated.
As for Shadowrun, I've been eye'ing that once since release. Mixed reviews on it though, so I never bought it.

Neverwinter Nights. It's awesome, especially if you're a D&D fan. Not on Steam though, you can find it on GOG.

Not heard of Silent Storm. I'll look it up. Thanks.

I've tried NWN & other D&D games over the years and I get bored. Too bad too, cause I've always wanted to like them.

Incubation is very similar to Gorky 17 in many aspects, but it's even older. Still playable and enjoyable, though.

XCOM + Enemy Within?

Maybe you should wait for Wasteland 2?

+1
Really fun game, one that really nicely pretends it's open world while it's quite linear (doing few things in slightly different order can be life or death for your team, like giving flame thrower to Ovitz - there are few moments, one on the very start, where he + flame thrower = tons of damage to enemies, while he - flame thrower = tons of damage to your team; on the other hand there is one moment when you can decide if you want some teammate or not by either triggering script or going back).

Too bad sequels were TPShooters...
