Well, it was casual day at office. I was doing my job and from time to time refreshed SG looking for new GAs.
Afrer 9000th refresh I saw new GA. 2 new GAs for one game from one person. "Ok", - said I to myself: "Creator knows what he's doing". I've checked his profile here and on Steam: 5 month here, no wins, no contribs, ~1 year at Steam, 24 games. Normal profile, right? Then I've sent friendship request to him (at Steam) and asked him about GA: "Do you really give away 2 copies of %gamename%?". "No", - answerd he: "i give one copies I do not know what happened"... So, he deleted one of GAs.

30 minutes later I've refreshed SG again and saw that wonderful cat... I won that GA. Funny, right? Well, I've started my Steam app and so him online and wrote next words: "Well, hi again) Looks like I'm winner))". And then he gave me the KEY. I tried to activate it... And Steam said "No man, this key is wrong". Well, it happens, maybe some typo in key? I typed "Emm, not activating". "Ok", - said he and gave me another key. Guess what happened? Right, this key was wrong too. And third one...

While chatting, I've fount 2 interesting things:
1) he's trying to give me the key, he got from his library (the key, provided by Steam, like SoaSE or Don't Starve key for third party DRM/orSomethinngElse).
2) his english is worst that even mine and he use Google Translate to communivate with me (+my native language and his native language are not the same language)

So, it's ok, that game is not really cost too much, and I can live without it. But I have a question: what should I do?
1) Report - I don't really want to do that and looks like this guy just didn't understand how SG and Steam works.
2) Wait 1 week, mark as not received and just forget about it - it is base option, and FAQ said to do that

P.S.:
1) is there polish page in FAQ?
2) he will be suspended for some time anyway, right?

Wait and mark as not received

If you really think that it was an honest mistake i would go for the second one.

No, he don't have a suspension for a fake GA. He lost one slot, he have 4 if i remember.

You can try to ask him to buy the game and give you a right key, or mark as not received after 7 days.

Bye.

  • 2) Wait 1 week ... FAQ said to do that

So why are you even asking if the FAQ already states how to proceed?

and like danielevincenzo already said, no user gets suspended for fake GAs, they only lose a GA slot

GA creator sent a key (actually 3 keys) and he can say that I activated that key on any other account, right? Who knows what he's thinking about. All that I want is advice from people who was in situation like mine.

And yes, I was going to wait this week anyway. )

if he would really start to claim that he gave you the correct key and you did not activate it on your account, then this might lead to a mess - one of the reaons being that replies on support tickets are not enabled.
you better have screenshots of the conversation with the GA creator, just in case ;)

Maybe try getting a Polish dude to help you translate yourself to him/the opposite(big task, I know), but some might be able to help you.
I don't think you should report, as I guess he really didn't understand how the site works.

You're right, but I actually cannot translate Steams message into english... And I don't remember it clearly. It was something about probable typo in key (like 0 and O, I and J)
