Usually, it's the other way around. Look for group recruitment threads instead of creating this one.

and groups usually recruit in their threads, look for some in the forums.

My experience is that when You start to give away a lot of giveaways, people themselves will ask You whether You want to join groups or not :)

Asking to be whitelisted is pretty generally frowned upon ...

You'll get yourself on more blacklist that way. Another nifty tool is the search bar right under the new discussion button that allows you to search for questions already asked such as this one. Not groups, but Here are some good threads as well to get you more acquainted with SG.
