You had me jumping a little when I "saw" "Final Fantasy VIII released" :P

I'm waiting for that moment :D I hope they will release it during winter (or maybe christmas?) :)

Release in the next few days / next week would be great, most likely same price as FF7. Then the occasional 33% off during the end of the year sale and I'll instantly get it. I wonder how they will treat "boosting" in this game, especially considering the ingame trading card game.

I hope they´ll release it soon ^^ My second-favourite FF-Games (after 6) :D Besides ports for the other FFs, I´d really like to see Steam/PC-Versions of Nier and Lost Odyssey.. bringing it to PC means keeping it alive forever.. I´m glad that Enslaved made the (rather late) jump, so I keep up some hope for the other true masterpieces of this console-generation ^^

I may have to give it a try. I remember when I was younger I didn't much care for this one, we'll have to see if that's changed any in recent years.

Let's just hope Square does a better job on the port for this one than they did for VII.

Ima wait til it hits $3.99 like FF7 was last week. Im in no rush to play it since I already beat it like 10 years ago, but I would like to have it in my library.

Hopefully this will be better then EAs port of FF8, that thing didn't even have a quit button!

Glad to hear FF8 is finally getting a release. I wouldn't call it a re-release. The initial PC release was very limited edition. You pretty much had to pirate it, nobody actually sold it. I tried to get a copy. Didn't work out so well. 7 was my favorite, but I don't think it's replayable. 8 I might actually buy since I never finished it.

FF8 is my least favorite in the series, might get 9 if that comes out on steam but I already have it on PS1

Why get excited about a crappy game? At least this one wasn't as bad as VII I guess.

If they don't do 9 I will be so sad. I never played past the intro of 8 though so I'll finally get the chance to play it properly, only one I haven't played.

As soon as I saw VII released on Steam I had hope that VIII would be as well. It's definitely my favorite Final Fantasy, and probably my favorite PS1 game of all time (That goes to either FFVIII or Vagrant Story, very close call). People give the game a lot of shit, but really the biggest problems it had were balance related. The systems in play were brilliant (junction, refine, card mod, etc.), just balanced poorly. Admittedly level scaling blows, but meh.

I loved FFVII and would still be playing it today if my PSP hadn't started freezing every time I try to save any game, but I didn't even consider buying that on Steam. VIII however, I may even be tempted to pay full price for.

Anyhoo, if anyone is considering impulse buying this right away, i would strongly advise you to wait a few weeks. It's already reported that FFVII + FFVIII pack is in steamdb so we might get a slight 10% or 20% discount in winter sale. But it's up to you

So the way I see it...no stats booster like in FF7, only magic booster?
