Thank you. Just what I was looking for.
What was the solution again? I'm afraid that I'm a lost cause! I have the attentiveness of a gold fish.
But e.g. riding a 1200+ train and focusing on red/green buttons, game names and various previous/next formating is making my old brain dizzy... or I'm suffering from Motion-induced blindness?

You can just look for the little eye next to the name of the game that you use to hide the game. If the eye icon is missing, you have already hid the game.

True, and that is why I actually believe the information is available when the page is generated, which would make the change simple.
And I do know that "simple" solutions for end-users is a fata-morgana.
The placement and formating of the eye-icon (and other elements) are to make them as unobtrusive as possible, without actually hiding them. Though the eye-icon is showing information by not showing it making it a bit tricky.

I agree. I just mentioned about the eye missing on hidden giveaways because I wasn't sure if you knew. I would also like to have the enter button change to a different color and say something to let us know we have the game hidden since it will make things easier when clicking through trains that have a lot of giveaways, especially since I have almost 12,000 games hidden now :)

With 12,000 hidden games I can easily imagine this being a problem for you!
I'm only at 250, and rarely encounter this problem and therefore is not that attentive.
It is often only when I see a comment stating "remember to check the winner - because I can enter even when I have the game" that I check if I already owns the game.
Edit: OK that actually doesn't describe the problem I presented in the suggestion completely. (>.<)
It also tells me to put it on the filtered list if it's not there already. In that case a green button would be OK (until Steam fixes their API)

+1 was coming in that section for a similar suggestion.
hidding the entry in the default listing is a very usefull feature.
But when it comes to invite only and train... the feature isn't there because we directly lend on the entry page.
So having the entry button in red instead or disabled of green would be appreciated. (I the mean time can reinstall ESGST )

As far as I can tell the button to enter a giveaway can have these "states"
Games you have chosen to hide (with the eye-icon) are normally hidden away on lists - so you don't see them.
However in trains (or links from SGTools or Jigidi) you can enter such giveaway and will be shown the "Enter Giveaway" (green) button.
Problem
You will now enter a giveaway (if not paying attention) that you
I suspect this could result in some tickets for reroll.
Suggestion
New button state with some text that you have hidden this game.
It could be disabled or enabled - I don't have any preference.
The information seems to be available when the page is created since the eye icon is not shown (next to the search icon)
