Your question does not seem to make much sense. The keys were always used as an internal currency on Steam. You can turn them into Steam wallet money in one way or another to buy games from the store for yourself. This has not changed.
Additionally, there are nearly three dozen digital stores worldwide—not counting all the local video game retailers—that still sell perfectly working Steam keys (and in some cases, gift links) you can use globally (for most of the time) in exchange for CS:GO keys.

It did change for Dota2 keys. It actually didn't change, they just straight up removed them.

So I'd say, his concerns are somewhat justified.

Yep, but I really doubt they'll remove csgo keys.

For op, you can still trade, you'll just trade for game codes or humble bundle gift links ¯\(ツ)

I wouldn't give it high chances myself either, yet we can't exclude that. Had CS:GO not been based so heavily on it's skins economy, it would definitely been easier for them to do so.

Oh oh, dont be so sure with that :o
Gaben has a problem with trading especially game-trading (CD-Keys now, gift trading was already killed by him)
I think he would be very glad if he could remove it completely or it would never have been introduced ^^

Keys form games like tf2 or csgo will not be removed to 100%
but it would be impossible to make them untradable/unmarketable so that they only fulfill their actual task
namely the opening of boxes ...I have a long time felt that this could come sometime ...it would kill the game trading nearly total
