The fact that the Trades button is there equally between giveaways and discussions suggests that it is a section of this website, like giveaways and discussions are. Really bad placement there.

That's actually a pretty good suggestion, I'm not sure why the button is still there at all.

Create a listing for Disney Winnie the Pooh and ask for Democracy 3. Then cg (Chinese government) will block it.

+1, I see no reason why the trades site should be linked here.

I'm pretty sure steamtrades is completely abandoned by CG and support. You are not allowed to talk about trading here and SG support won't help with issues there, so why have it linked here? It just causes confusion and causes people to try and get support for it here.

Are you trolling right now, or what? How is it has nothing to do with SG? It's cg's site.
Also, you can trust the reputation of people if you want or not. In the end of the day it's your fault if you didn't check the person you are trading with.

Are you trolling right now or what? Of course it's cg's site but if you had ever read this forum you would know that any questions about it are answered by it being completely unrelated to SG, so it's related to cg but not SG.
You can trust the Russian bot farms if you want, I won't. What exactly are you supposed to check about them?

First find a way to search for such a post. But it has been made quite clear by the support staff here that they are completely separate sites and cg has never corrected that if it's wrong.
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/yWGlf/steamtrades is the closest I'll bother to find.

That's my point, I haven't seen anything in that post, or in what cg has said previously, to say that ST and SG are unrelated. The staff is not cg, and, ultimately, if you want someone to delete the trade button in this site, then it's cg that should do it, and who would decide to do it.
Sure, he has never corrected the staff, but he has also never stopped ST from existing. And cg's post actually says that ST "grow[s] as a leader in Steam user reputation", so cg is possibly affectively attached to steamtrades

Well obviously bugs and suggestions are only aimed towards cg who can actually fix/improve things here and not mods can't do anything.
separation of trades to SteamTrades.com, and improving on the feedback system
Maybe it was some kind of leader 3 years ago before the feedback system was "improved" to be completely useless. It's like asking 4chan to decide things for you.

I had 60+ trades in four years. Not much I know, but never had any bad experience with traders there... Golden rule to not trade with somebody, who has many -reps...
But why is it bothering you so much OP? Did somebody scam some cheap game out from you?
Comment has been collapsed.
You do realize that any -rep can be just voted away by the bots so everyone is free to scam as long as they pay some bot farmer to vote for them?
How does it bother me "so much" exactly? Why does it not bother you that the feedback system is a joke run by bots? Did you plan to scam someone?
Comment has been collapsed.
And you're some authority or judge on why I would open discussions and make polls for them or not now? There is literally nothing to vote on since it's all facts, not opinions. Why are you posting here then, are you so desperate that you cry for my attention?
Comment has been collapsed.
any facts, regarding this topics... something which would prove, that the whole ST is corrupt like the Senate of the Republic in Star Wars :D or that its full of russian bots... cause without any given facts this whole topic is just some fairy tail ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
You claimed to have been using the site for 4 years and now you suddenly claim to have no idea about it at all?
Let's 101:
Any -rep gets voted on.
Any scammer can pay a farmer to use couple hundred bots to vote down all -reps they get.
Any scammer can also pay to keep the revenge -reps they give you.
All of these are simple facts. Just blindly believing that nobody will ever abuse this system that's so very trivial to abuse for commercial gain is beyond foolish, on par with trusting every Nigerian prince that emails you.

okay, i see... lets see...
I know every negative rep gets voted on. this is a fact, anybody can see...
But where can i check the trustworthiness of your second and 3rd fact? Or I should believe it just because your contributor level is 10.0 with 10k+ gifts? cause so far you are giving me the same amount of facts as any Nigerian prince ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
How simple do I need to make it? Anyone with a Steam account can have a ST account so a bot farmer with 10k Steam accounts can register 10k ST accounts to scam and/or scam vote with them with no limits of any kind. What exactly don't you get about this? I mean you seem to be the only one who is actually confused about such simple things.

No no no, there seems to be a misunderstanding ;) I get your point... my problem is that every second reply of yours is containing FACTS... you know FACTS usually has some background. some valid numbers. I could say russian bots made sure to that Trump was elected as president, or russian bots down voted on TLJ, but without providing any source these are not facts...
Comment has been collapsed.
I never claimed some number of bots to be a fact, only the fact that there is absolutely nothing preventing them in any numbers.
Trump's election is more like the old ST system where feedback was actually moderated by humans. The current one would be asking the Internet to vote for president while having absolutely no control over who can vote or how many times and the president would have been moot.

When was it ...
Not using SteamTrade.
However, according to the SteamTrade guidelines ...
SteamTrades Guideline
Trades
Trade feedback should only be used to describe your personal trading experience with a user. It should not be used (i) to post negative comments when you disagree with someone's offer, (ii) for revenge or retaliation when someone leaves you negative feedback, or (iii) for unrelated comments or trading experiences not directly involving you.
There was a SteamGifts user who wrote a certain SteamTrade user to vote "bad".
I have pointed out that I was able to confirm that it violated the SteamTrade terms.
We may need an implementation to force the SteamGifts FAQ to be read.
Q.SteamTrade
A.Content. It is a brother/sister site.
However, it is a completely different service depending on the terms.
Posting all Comment related to SteamTrade on SteamGifts is punishable.
May have to write such a thing.

+1, this way it will be clear(er) to everybody that the two sites are unrelated, and problems with one should not pop up in the other. :)

I don't understand some people.
You complain about being scammed on steam trades and they say that site has nothing to do with this one.
You tell them to remove links to it from the UI and suddenly its a related site so we shouldn't do it.
Listen up geniuses. You can't have it both ways.
We either related and all valid criticism should be welcome on this site, or we aren't and this site should distance itself from steam scams.

Wonder why this exists...

i just drop all my steam keys here https://screamintothevoid.com/

For me, the trades button is irrelevant as I don't use ST so removal is fine and that will mean a few less threads about people venting and asking moderators from SG to moderate ST and people moaning about -rep. I also agree about the big fat red label saying that ST is unmoderated and any use is completely at your own risk. I would move it to the right of the help button if I still had to have it on the screen as part of the page.
Its also odd that on the steamtrades page, there is no link or buttons linking to the Steamgifts giveaway section.

Maybe CG is only paying for one site with his host and so needs to link them as a formality to avoid being charged for a second site?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yea gonna agree that it would be a good idea to get rid of the link

OK let me ask you this, how would you moderate steamtrades?
You claim to want other to help you, what do you want them to do? ban people? under what grounds? what type of proof would you require?
How many support tickets do you think steamtrades would generate per day? As it stands steamgifts support struggles to keep up with ticket volume.
Steamtrades was designed to be self policing, if someone is scamming give them - rep and warn other people so they won't be also scammed. If someone is "farming rep" and you see that, also make a message on their profile letting others know, Then read people's profiles before trading with them, it's the best metric on if you can trust someone.

Since ST has nothing at all to do with SG, why is it still advertised here as an integral part of this site? Or are new people just supposed to guess which buttons are related to this site and which are not? If you have it between Giveaways and Discussions it really is a part of this site. At least label it with a red warning that you will get scammed and there is absolutely no moderation and it's your own fault for trusting scam links on a trusted site.
