gamePrice = steamPrice(game)
gameRating = steamRating(game)/100%

I cannot Google "tf2/csgo keys price" for some games I want to trade. I just wonder how to calculate it.

bundles: which tier and how many times the game bundled.
steam price: is it glitched before? like verdun or tropico 4 cp? and regional price differences.

So If it's bundled game from 1$ HB then 1 key, and if "avg" HB (often 5-6$) then 2-2.5 keys?

From my own experience trading you will be extremely unlikely to get 1 TF2 key for a single game from a $1 humble bundle. If people are trading TF2 keys for very cheap bundle games then they will generally be wanting multiple games.

Treat a key as roughly worth $2/€2. In your example it's really unlikely that anyone would pay a key for a single game at $1 tier, but maybe more likely for all the games at that tier. Same logic for other tiers.

Yes, I've seen games from the BTA tier sell for 1 key each but not very often (if ever) the $1 tier. Of course, another factor is how many games were in each tier. A $1 tier with 2 games in it is different to a $1 tier with 4 games in it. A BTA tier where the average is $4.50 is different to a BTA when the average is $7 and there might be varying amounts of games in those BTA tiers too.

Verdun was glitched? And how much did it cost?

I got a 4 pack for 2 keys, it was glitched in some or all of the South East Asian countries after they introduced regional pricing but before everything was region locked if I'm remembering it corrercty.

Edit: Looking further into it, it was in November in the Indonesian store.
Re-edit: Price was 36, 599 Indonesia Rupiah for the 4 pack which is around $3 US.

p = max(targetRegionStorePrice(appid, region), whatIPaidForIt(appid))
k = min(marketPrice(key), communityMarketPrice(key))
nKeys = p*1.5 / k
That is how I'd seen the non-goyim do it :^)
(No, seriously.)

Yeah, the main problem is that OP is trying to figure out the market price in the first place, in other words your variable 'k' is unknown. Actually the formula doesn't make any sense now that I try it, your nKeys will be higher the lower market prices are (variable k), and dividing what you paid with the market price doesn't really make sense at all either, actually...

The post wasn't all that serious and elaborated to begin with but here are some thoughts:

  • marketPrice(key) would be the price of a chest key in the "market". This market refers to the trade that goes on outside the Steam controlled platform, and this includes RMT, keys to metal, etc.
  • communityMarketPrice would be the price on the Steam Community Market, often equal to buying from Valve directly.
  • "nKeys will be higher the lower market prices are": yes, that would be the point, because the lower the price the keys go for the more keys you will want for your game or item.
  • "Dividing what you paid with the market": it woud be what you paid times 1.5 and by the lowest price the keys go for. It makes sense when you want to get the most keys in exchange for your game or item.
    Reminder that was supposed to be about the "happy merchant" way, that is for profit and/or stability.
    Maybe I am having a mental fart and it really doesn't make sense. Feel free to let me know.

It's known - it depends on key price, not app :)

MY LOGIC : The game is in a 3$ bundle along with other 9 games = 0.30... but trader has to make a profit so 0.30 x 2 = 0.60$

Basically, figure out the following:

  • What was the cheapest ways to obtain the game and when (in the past)
  • What is the cheapest way to obtain the game now (in store and amongst traders, in bundles etc.)

If it was cheaper in the past than it is now, set the price somewhere in between so that both sides has something to gain from the deal. Make sure you're not too far from other traders' prices, if they exist.
If it is at its cheapest now, you have to set the price somewhere below that, and in general you probably won't profit unless you are willing to accept losses during your key conversion.
As a rule of thumb, keys should be considered $2/€2 worth of Steam wallet currency when comparing their worth against Steam items (such as Steam games and game keys).

Yes, the Steam Community market. The point is that you should get at least the amount of Steam Wallet that you paid for the game.

For example, say you bought a game for 14.99. The current price of TF2 keys on the market is basically 2.49, which means if you sold your keys you'd get 85%, or 2.11 (rounded down). 14.99/2.11 = 7.104 keys, so you'd just sell for 8 keys, or bargain to a minimum of 7 keys and .104 x (current price = 19.11) = 2 ref.

EDIT: Keep in mind this is a calculation for the minimum you need to break even - obviously if you're ever looking to profit you should charge higher than this. Doing the same calculation when you want to buy games (with keys) will help you decide whether or not to just sell them all on the market and buy the game with steambux.

I dont really sell games tbh ...
When i buy ... i check Bundle price ( lowest discounted price ) X Key price ... +10% .
And usually thats my offer .

Like for example , if a game is worth 10$ After lowest possible discount ... id offer 11$ worth of keys (after taxes )

Thats just me tho , i buy stuff i REALLY want ... and i dont do that often ...so i dont mind paying abit overprice of steam wallet i got from cards anyway .

Look around at other sites for what others ask for that game. You will find they are very similar if not same for that particular game all across the board (as in all trade sites). There are some who will try to high ball, but most will keep it the same. If you want to be competitive and don't mind a bit of a loss, you could drop a key or two depending on the price.
