ariel's lament from soul reaver 2
Gee, man, let other people mention some great soundtracks before nailing it completely with possibly the best intro soundtrack ever! :D :D :D ;D
I guess I could have just said "+1", but not dramatic enough, you know.
Light spoiler: Kain refused to sacrifice!
Mass Effect 2
A man of culture, tho I'd say Mass Effect 1
Others that come to my mind are
I'll stop there but I'm pretty sure I'm falling short.
Black & White intro always got me PUMPED.
The Prelude from any FF, obviously.
soul blade intro and Zone of the Enders menu (not intro) was not much bad
twisted metal black
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
Hot Action Cop - "Going Down On It"
No contest here!
The opening of Paper, Please never fails to make me happy...
I often say that Papers, Please has the best soundtrack for a game with barely any music.
Too many to name a definite winner. But to mention one, Hans Zimmer touched upon an interesting atmosphere while making Crysis 2 main theme. Sends shivers down my spine still. Its heroic in a way like a tpyical, cliched hollywood blockbuster movie, but there is an element of tension, a hint of horror in it with those siren-like sounds. Not the best intro per se, but I thought I'd mention it as it seems a bit underapprceiated in my opinion.
The last I heard and found great was Doom Eternal.
The last I actually played and remember fondly is Celeste's main theme.
I was not kidding, too many worthy contenders to choose from.
Oh that Crysis 2, that was really nice!!
It was fitting for the general change of direction the game took.
No One Lives Forever
To Zanarkand from FFX
Ys I Chronicles opening
The game intro that still sits with me today above all else...
or the full intro, variety of songs.
FFVI still sits in my top games ever played list, and I still enjoy going back to play it from time to time.
I don't think any game has ever topped that intro for me in all my years of gaming. It plays every time you start the game and sets the mood perfectly each time. Must've watched it dozens of times during my playthrough.
A man of culture
Maybe I'm a little off topic, but I find the intro of Crypt of the NecroDancer awesome :D
Why should it be off topic? That whole soundtrack is awesome! ^^
Just because that was not just the out, but also a little of talk, and I thought here we were talking just about songs... But I agree, the complete soundtrack is great :D
You made me download the game again, damn you lol
Ahahahah, great! It has been steadily installed on my PC in the last 3 years, even though I wasn't ever able to even beat level 2... But every now and then I have to replay it, even just for 10 minutes, just for the music.
Yeah, it's so damn hard! Even though i buyed it more than 7 years ago, i'm still trying to beat level 4 for Cadence! I enjoy every loss though lol
Good luck trying to beat level 2!
Fallout 3, always.
I personally loved Borderland's "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" by Cage the Elephant
I'm not certain of what "Intro" means. The first playable or cinematic scene of a video game after you start a New game seems obvious, but the music from the menu, the login screen of a MMO and the cinematic that sometimes launches when you don't press Start on certain games, are these also "Intro" ?
For the first scene of the game, Terra's Theme from Final Fantasy VI, already linked above.
For a menu theme, the one from Enderal and lots of Final Fantasy.
If the login screens are okay, the one from the first expansion of Guild Wars 2 was epic.
For the cinematic when you don't press Start, Silent Hill 2 - Theme of Laura.
Maybe a little cheating, but my first thought was Tales from the Borderlands. Each of the episodes has a great music intro to set the mood.
Still one of the best point clikers i've played to date. All Borderlands and especially this game has awesome intros.
"Short Change Hero" by The Heavy. Intro for Borderlands 2
So totally Dune
To bad the copyright appears to be held by ****oles who won't rerelease the game and won't even let the music composer distribute his music
MDK comes to mind.
