Hello all. A new feature was implemented on the site recently that scans your account for your games and stores them in a database on the site, which is then used to determine whether you can enter a giveaway or not. This has prevented players with free2play accounts for Team Fortress 2 to enter giveaways for the Team Fortress 2 premium account giveaways.

Unfortunately, there is no difference between the free to play version and premium version in terms of the name that appears in your premium library (premium features are allowed on your account but the name of the game stays the same) and thus free2play players (i.e. people with team fortress 2 on their accounts who are playing as free2play players) cannot join the giveaway at this time (that would enable them to upgrade their accounts to premium if they were to win in these giveaways). I have already added this to the forum post on this new feature but I thought this should have a separate post on this just for the sake of completeness.

Would it be possible to exclude this game from the checks somehow, as I am not sure whether this check could check to see if the entrant has a free2play account or premium account. With the feature in place, free2play players are loosing out on the chance to enter to upgrade their accounts to the premium account.

Seems like this feature doesn't work with multi-game packs such as Humble Bundles, developer collections or even Cthulhu/BoD.

This feature isn't fully implemented yet, so as of now I believe it's just holding game data

Didn't want to make a new thread, so I'll post this here.

Speaking of TF2, wtf is up with this giveaway?

EDIT: it has been addressed: http://www.steamgifts.com/forum/meb21/dont-submit-steam-accounts-to-give-away

Your concern is valid, I agree. But for the love of all that if GLaPOS, when will people learn the difference between "loose" and "lose"? One has too much slack, and the other is the opposite of winning. You're either winning or losing. You're either too tight or too loose.

Sorry, it's just been building up. It's a shame/win that TF2 went F2P and mixed up the whole "premium" versus "free to play" dynamic. Just keep in mind that you're not missing out on anything but hats.

The issue is not on what people are missing out on though... more of a limitation of choice... person should be allowed to choose to spend his points on an upgrade that would just allow him to retain hats, for example. Not saying I do, but may people were complaining in the giveaway comments section and so I wanted to bring the matter to light in the forums :)

Can you add a "Force Sync" button? I had a guest pass for CS:S that expired today, and I can't enter any giveaways for CS:S because it hasn't synced and it thinks I still own the game.

Will do. In the meantime, I manually removed CS:S from your account.

people without a premium F2P acc can make it premium by buying the cheapest item in the mann co store

The only option to pay is the steam wallet and this requires a minimum recharge of $5.00. The items itself might be cheaper but those 5 bucks have to be paid.
