Just noticed comment section under giveaway pictures and some say you must say thanks or blacklisted and such, is there a way I can check who blacklisted me or can someone else check. I wish to apologize to these people as I never understood why people spammed the word thanks in the comments, and I dislike being blacklisted (even from people with bad giveaways or no more giveaways).

No there isnt, other then running across their list. Blacklists are not allowed on public giveaways.

Maybe people say thanks because they are thankful?

Mno. That word has lost its meaning here :).

Agreed. Too many people spam without actually even seeing what they're entering for or checking descriptions. If you post thank you on everything, it gets to be a bit disingenuous.

You may want to ease a bit on bots, last time I talked about people having automatisms i got banned...

And people register here because they want to give free games to strangers...

No on several giveaways they said to say thanks and if you don't at least comment and just enter you will be entered into their blacklist.

^^^ This. You see it, from time to time.

Don't worry, Bro. I never blacklist people for not saying "thanks." D

No rules are allowed on public giveaways, so it's more of a kind gesture - somebody offers you a chance to win a game, and you thank them =)

Also, blacklists are personal, but then again, people who use them put a link to them in every giveaway they host.

That reminds me, I need to start posting my blacklist in my giveaway.
I haven't done that lately. Don't worry, you're not on it.

I read that three times, to ensure I did nothing wrong =)

Also, on behalf of our community, thank you for sharing so much with fellow SGifters ;)

Sweet ty guys for the usefull responses ^^, also 120 entries 0 wins lol. I think I might try to raise my karma by doing some giveaways of my own. Know any 5-20$ games I can spam that people want?

Pretty much any two decent bundle games will raise your CV to $30, which still alot of people don't have. Though all bundle giveaways per account are limited to $30, then increases with non-bundle giveaways.

not karma, just statistics - Estimated Wins 0.22 - that generally mean that statistically you shouldn't have win anything yet ;p

being thanked is nice though.
but a forced thanks doesn't feel like anything.
most people just say make a comment instead of thanks

this - forcing to "thank you" seems weird, forcing to comment proofs more or less that a person read the description which may contain other important GA rules.

Except there should be no additional rules on public GAs. Those are the site rules. (without special approval of course).

so? who's saying that we're discussing specificaly only Public GAs?

Especially as the "forced comment" rules are usually posted on privs/group GAs.

This. If you want to express your gratitude properly, make it something more interesting than "thanks", since it's not just meaningless but people actually script it. Personally, I'll make a comment if I'm the first one to do so (no, not "first"... a real comment) or if there's actually something interesting to say. Otherwise, I won't. I really don't care if that lands me on any blacklists; if you attach value to canned responses that take little more effort than pushing the green button, more power to you, but it's not my thing.

I generally only do a comment when there's actually something to respond to in the description, or maybe if it's a game I REALLY really want I'll say thanks in some way.

One time I threatened to blacklist people who said thanks. Just because I was feeling a bit petty.

Someone could only blacklist you if you won, it doesn't generate a list of everyone who entered, and maintaining a blacklist for a public giveaway like that would take hours even if it did make a list.

You can't make a blacklist for a public giveaway :P Only for group and private.

Ofc there is a list of everyone who entered lol o.O

You go to GA page and clicl Entries, Example from your last GA. You're here for 2 years and don't know a basic stuff? xD

Don't fret over being blacklisted by people who demand comments. Now I just write the word "comment" if I enter their giveaways :P I don't see the point of writing thanks in every giveaway so whatever. It would be comical if the comments statistic did not count the automatic thanks which so many seem to be using ;)

Well - I see it different, after explanation maybe you also will. I have a rule "comment to enter" approved by Support. As well as few other rules. As making quite a few puzzle/event GiveAways you're often actually required to have such in case persn who won cheated on puzzle or broke event rules. So if I have a rule "comment to enter" as well as some other rules depending on type of priv GA, and I see someone not commenting I may be pretty sure he didn't even bother to read the GA description and is not aware of other rules.

There's a solution here so you don't have to worry about blacklists or comments:

  • Gain CV
  • Join a good giveaway group

You will also increase your chance in winning giveaways....
