I am Amaryllis friend and I have message from him:
β€œHello, sorry about that
https://www.steamgifts.com/user/Amaryllis (Suspended Permanent)
https://www.sgtools.info/nonactivated/amaryllis
but it was necessary, my last point of brilliant plan. I cleared my steam account and ended with Steamgifts in one move. I can finally say that I will not create on steamgifts more giveaways! Thanks God :)

Of course its still not that easy. I wanted just to say goodbye and give you last games from me. Not super mega expensive, but enough titles for few of you. Have fun :)

He deleted some games from his account. All games that he won are still marked as received on steamgifts so this doesn't touch ratio of person giving that game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not simply about ratio and stuff, it's about throwing gifts away. That's just plain rude.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Rude will be when I delete gift and unmark that I received it (that will affect game gifter).
I won this game - it's my property now, I fullfilled all site requirements. Why I can't delete my game a year later?
It's like a "revoke a game key" what sometime happens.

I know, that is his devil plan - but I telling about a game property.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Of course it's his property, nobody was debating that point, but that still doesn't mean it's not rude.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But what is rude? Rude it will be, if he also will mark all of them as not-received.
He got this game, mark is correctly - fullfilled all needed by SG rules.
Next, he deleted crappy games from his steam account - and this is not described in rules, that game must stay in your library forever.

So what is rude?
I can also redeem a code from you - and delete this game from my account - and mark it as not received (and keep them).
Or tell, that my games are revoked by steam one day later.
How you can check this?
Only steam and game devs are able to check this. Especially now, when user can completely hide his games from public and sync his game account from time to time to hide it from sgtools.

No it's still rude, it's like willingly asking someone for a gift irl, receiving that gift and then taking a huge crap publicly on that very same gift just because it's your property now. Perhaps the rules don't specifically state that you can't remove them but it does say you have to activate all the games you win on the account you enter with. So when you remove games from your account, it's the same thing as not activating them, the FAQ doesn't need any additional rules, the rule I mentioned works great instead, you can't bypass it. Trust me he knew it was wrongful since he did it on purpose to get banned, he knew what the rules were. Also some of the games were not even bad, quite a few were actually decent, I know because I have a few on my wishlist myself, even if one person would have enjoyed at least one game from that huge list, then it's still a waste. Please stop trying to rationalize it because it's a shit move no matter how you look at it.

The situation you mentioned can easily be solved with steamgifts support, you get my game and delete it while lying it was revoked? Then I'll contact support and tell them my story, they'll most likely ask for proof from both ends, if you disagree to send the proof, which wouldn't make sense if it were legit since it would be in your best interest to share proof, then you'll probably get suspended, it's as easy as that.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I read the rules strictly. There are no point about delete game from account.
It's simple: activate and mark as received. Both points are completed and there are no doubt about it.

"if you disagree to send the proof,"
= and if user agreed - and sent his proof?

There's a certain level of common sense that should be applied in every aspect of life.

For instance, I shouldn't need to post "don't stick your head in my toilet for 3 minutes" above my toilet to prevent my house guests from drowning themselves.

Bottom line: We shouldn't need an attorney to write out every single aspect of every rule on this site. I'm confident support knows how to handle things should the situation arise.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well if he's lying then he probably can't send proof or if he sends proof it would be fake and questionable, support would ask for further proof. Like screenshots of the revoked message taken from mobile version, steam client and browser, photos taken of your monitor with the steam client open at the revoked message and a paper in the background with the time, date and SG username written on it, maybe even a video taken with Camtasia or a similar program, videos taken with your phone etc. There's tons of ways to check.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And two things: like all digital media, can be faked. Also - user can don't know to do it. There a lot of not-technical users here. Anyway even key from HumbleBundle can be invalid. I've got 2 times wrong key (myself) of game bought on this site during 4 years. So everything is possible...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can't fake all of them at once, especially a video taken with your cellphone of your monitor where you show how you open the steam client and display the revoke message or the invalid key. If he doesn't want to, then he deserves the ban. If he doesn't know how, then that's still no excuse, is quite easy to take a picture or a video and there's a lot of tutorials of the internet. From the second he marks it as not received, it's his responsibility to show proof and he's guilty until proven innocent.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not at all.

  1. When he says - it's been revoked = he just make a screenshoot and must show it (still can be faked). Rest is on your side to prove that is not true. This is enough at start. User will report GA creator must to rest. If you write "my key was ok" = it's not enough for support.
  2. When he is activating - he still can activate on other account and told you "key is duplicated".

I always wonder: I've gaved more than 1.700 games and never (yet) spotted situation when someone report that my key doesn't work (except situations when I myself don't been sure that this key is weak).
Anyway - all here is based on trust.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well of course a simple screenshot can can be faked that's why I proposed more than just one step, if support asks for all the steps I mentioned at once and not just one of them, then it's less likely it can be faked. Also when both sides, the creator and the winner both send apparently pertinent proof then how do you decide who's telling the truth? You either ask both of them for more complex and abundant proof in hope one of them will slip, or you ask just one of them, in this case the winner who reported the problem. If this isn't an appropriate solution then how would you solve it? I'm curious.

We were talking about a different situation, when an individual is lying about his game getting revoked or invalid keys, not about keys activated on different accounts, that's whole different story.

Not all of it is based on trust, most things can be proven but I partially agree, some rare situations can't be and require a level of trust. Anyway all we've talked about here is very unlikely to happen, there are some evil people out there but it's probably too much effort for one of them to try something like this.

It is not possible anymore to unmark a game as received after it has been marked as received for 30 days. You would have to open a support ticket and request it with a good reason.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

All those games can theoretically be restored at any time. But it's still unnecessarily complicated. You can get permanently suspended or even banned (if you want to make sure you can't change your mind later) simply by asking for it in a Ticket. It wouldn't be the first time somebody did that.

Oh, wow. Didn't check the sgtools link tbh, but that's not the nicest way to go about this :s... I mean, even if they don't intend to play any of their winnings, in the end it's their choice, but couldn't they just simply ask to be suspended :? I mean, it's kinda like throwing a birthday party and throwing all the gifts straight into the trashcan right in front of your guests, instead of at least pretending to store them safely away to find use for them later ;x.

Anyway - I can't delete game from my library that I won?

Site rules:

If I win a game, can I regift, trade, or sell it?
According to our guidelines, no, all games you win must be activated and redeemed on the Steam account you used during registration. Failure to activate games you have received will result in a suspension.

This mean, that he must activate game he won. And he did this. So what site rule has been broken?
There are no rule that he must have this game on account and can't delete it later..

It's not directly stated, but if you delete a game SG will 'forget' it was ever activated and then you'll be banned for "unactivated wins". For that reason, you can never delete games that you've won, even if say they're multiplayer-only and eventually become unplayable due to the servers being taken down.

If no directly stated = no rule of this.

You do have the right to contact the GA creator involved and work out an arrangement for deletion, though at times that can be tricky to accomplish, especially given how users regularly leave the site.

all games you win must be activated

Activated in this usage can either mean future-tense "to activate", as you're interpreting it, or present-tense "in a state of being activated". The site intends and follows through to the latter interpretation (which is logically inclusive of the first, as well).
Ergo, yes, it's already in the rules that your games must be on your account at all times.

Gifts Won: 203 ($2,612.99)
Gifts Sent: 3,316 ($39,101.88)

Amaryllis is a person who mostly gived things to people. Maybe he doesn't know how to finish this? I don't know. Look at entire situation in that way - will be more clear.

I also tried to keep 1:1 sent/win ratio but during time spent here I giving more that I won. I don't know why - I just want to. But this cost me a little more. But this is my decision?

But why do it this way when there are alternatives? Even if you don't want to wait for support to answer to a ticket (something that sometimes takes months) you can just break some other rule and get kicked in a mostly harmless way.
As a simple example, you could create a second account here and then make a thread telling everyone and posting proof that you indeed broke the rule. It would probably be just as effective.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I can't answer this question. I just telling, that Amaryllis gived a lot more that he got.
Maybe he is a person who don't know when to stop this.
He did it in wrong way - but maybe he admit, that a firm solution is a better way...
It's unclear for me but I'm far away to blame him from this move.
I also was him on my WL and this was a person who find a satisfaction in giving something to people, make they happy.

I don't understood in all his decision, but it's acceptable for me. He don't harm anyone. All games he got are marked as received. He did a lot of good and bring many smiles to the winners faces. The only harmed person is now him - so I don't understood all comments about a rude behaviour spotted in this thread. It's his decision. It's unclear, for me but I accept his choice...

MIght be a cultural thing but in many places trashing a gift is considered rude, even if you don't like the thing you got.
Also that "he gifted plenty so we can forgive this" attitude / argument to me sounds like "he donated plenty of money to the orphanage so we can forgive that he kicked an orphan in the teeth that one time". I know I'm being exagerated but it does look like people are fast to forget faults from people with a good ratio.
