I'm currently using a laptop which has an integrated Intel 4000 HD card and a Nvidia GT 630M. But the problem is, when I run the Sleeping Dogs benchmark test, it claims I'm using the Intel card, not the Nvidia one. I'm also starting to suspect that my computer isn't using the Nvidia card at all. By the way, this is after I went into the Nvidia control panel and set Sleeping Dogs to use the Nvidia card. Any idea how I can fix this and make the Nvidia card default for all Steam games?

when your comp uses normal apps it has the integrated graphics on. it will automatically switch to the dedicated gpu when you play your game. That is why the benchmark test is off.

The benchmark test is within the game though, so technically it should use the Nvidia card.

in the nvidia control panel you can choose which program should use which processor. Also for me right click (on the .exe) --> start with graphics processor --> nvidia works as well

I had the same problem as you, but I finally found a fix for it through the Nvidia Control Panel. I have an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an Nvidia Geforce GT 750M

Right click on the desktop and open nvidia control panel.
Then head to the "manage 3D settings" drop down under 3D settings.
Then under the global settings tab, underneath preferred graphics processor, change it from auto detect to high performance graphics processor.
Now your laptop should be using your Nvidia GT 630M for almost everything, including your steam games.

^What this guy said.

Some games require you to select the games' .exe from a browse for programs thing and then it lets you force the nVidia card to be used when that .exe is run.

I just tried that but Sleeping Dogs is still telling me that I'm using the Integrated card.

Then follow the same method as I mentioned, but instead go to the program settings tab instead of global settings, select the .exe for Sleeping Dogs, and for the preferred graphics processor, change it to high performance graphic processor.

If that doesn't work, then maybe try disabling the integrated graphics card through device manager

For games that use DX9 you can also try the optimus fix : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33227//?

I'm not sure you can run Sleeping Dogs in DX9 though

There is a setting that force the pc to use the integrated card when laptop is not charging. For power saving reason.

Go to BIOS settings and disable the integrated card.
