As someone who owns both, hasn't played TW2 yet, and has logged 101 hours of Skyrim, I would probably lean toward Skyrim. But my best friend is playing TW2 at the moment and enjoying it very much. I think they're probably both pretty solid games, and it will really depend if you prefer the more open world of Skyrim or the more main-storyline-driven TW2 (at least, if it's similar to the first one, I'm guessing). Also, you know, price.

maybe i didnt give skyrim enough time but i played like the first 2 hours and it wasnt doing anything for me, seriously boring and the sad part is im sure it gets better with time,
i just dont have enough to invest 40 prehours into a game just for it to, get fun
but the witcher is just awesome, (from what i remember) the son of a sorceress and a demon...who goes around slaying monsters, and collecting booty... both kinds.

Both games will play okay on your system. Skyrim, I personally think will last you better, there's much to do and dlc will last you quite some time if you decide to invest. Are you a person who enjoys story over RPG elements? If so the Witcher 2 is better for you. It all depends on what kind of gamer you are.

Witcher 2 for better story and better combat and really more of a challenge as well. Skyrim for the exploration. But be prepared because Skyrim gets old fast.
You are better off bying witcher 1 and 2 for the price of Skyrim. Between those 2 games, you will get around the same amount of playtime as Skyrim.

witcher 2 has great story and combat. skyrim has a huge world to explore and is really fun to build and customize your character. both are great.

Witcher 2 has one of the most amazing stories ever, and is built for PC. Skyrim is cool, but gets really same-y and loses steam if you aren't really really into it. Witcher 2 is also much cheaper. In terms of sequels, both work as standalones if you haven't played the other games. I personally think Skyrim is overrated, but that's just me. Final verdict: Skyrim is very open and geared for customization, But Witcher has much tighter gameplay elements and story, so it;s really up to personal preference.

take witcher 2.
Skyrim is a game that make by lousy/lazy developer than are lousy/lazy in bug fixing and would rather spend time release more DLCs than spending time fixing bugs. Check my library I own both of them (the witcher 2 has no playtime b4 I redeem/played on GOG version)

I have yet to play TW2, but I've played enough of Skyrim to say it gets boring. Yes there's a lot of exploring but it becomes all the same after a while, not to mention the bland combat system. I agree that it is overrated, I've heard many great things about TW2 though.
