Personally i recommend at least one vanilla playthrough and the use of mods afterwards. If Morrowind can be enjoyed without any mods, Oblivion is a different matter.
In Oblivion, the enemies are levelling up every time you level up. That means you will have trouble with a band of goblins at level 40, just as you had at level 1. For mods go to Nexus.
For Obblivion you have to chose between Oscuro's Overhaul ( dude has a long list of stuff that's included in his mod ) and Francesco's ( long list, also makes the enemies not levelling up like crazy - can you imagine a levelled up bear or wolf?! ).

Was about to say the same. Not to mention, Morrowind (like Skyrim) is more about lore and exploration where Oblivion is more about comba.
On Morrowind, if you can find it, I would recommend the Wizards Islands mod. It's extremely big and has the quality of the expansions.

So true. Morrowind still retains its original charm without any mod being needed. As for Oblivion, the only mods i can recommend are the ones that alter the gameplay. Also for Oblivion you might want to try Nehrim. A total conversion mod which is really well made.

I used a few mods on Oblivion to adjust things, without going "whole new game". Added hand to hand weapons, put in a ring that opens a console for when things occasionally freak out and need to be fixed (I have one of those machines where it doesn't like the keyboard driver and won't allow ~ to open the console), a few other small tweaks. Morrowind I use the FPS Optimizer to make it play nicely with 1920x1200, giving it proper widescreen and gui scaling, but nothing that affects actual gameplay.
The weapon thing in Oblivion is purely thematical...I'm playing a Khajiit stealth melee and felt hand to hand with touch magics fit better than using small weapons like daggers or short swords, but the weapons it adds are right in line with existing short swords and daggers statswise. Tried to do the same in Skyrim but alas, when I last checked it didn't exist. I'm still bummed about no hand to hand option there!

you can turn mods off whenever the hell you want to. The thing is, it will warn you when you turn them off when you reload the game.

It varies on the mod. Some require brand new games, particularly complete overhauls like Requiem for Skyrim, but most work whenever. Follow the instructions for each individual mod and you should be fine. That said, turning off mods midgame can cause some very batshit things to happen. Some things may be mildly broken (Couriers were naked thanks to a weird mod conflict on my last PC), others a bit more seriously (couldn't enter a cavern the mod had changed). Again, it varies on the mod and the skill of the modder. A lot can be turned off without issue.
WARNING: You should never completely uninstall a mod with scripts attached. It will destroy your save. What I've been doing in Skyrim is installing a mod on a clean save (absolutely nothing active when I saved, though you can activate as many mods as you want while loading it), stress testing it works (generally, a marathon around Skyrim, then a quick cell change blitz in Whiterun (entering then leaving every building in the town) tells me if there's a major crashing issue with the mod), then find out if I like it. If I don't, it's deleted then. It never affected my saves because it was clean and I didn't save again with it active.

There's no "one" mod, trust me. It's an addiction. Right now, my Skyrim mods total nearly 90 and I'm barely done adding them. Frostfall, Bandoliers, CBBE, Better Males, Realistic Lighting Overhaul, Climates of Tamriel, considering Requiem... there's no stopping now.

Morrowind is fine without mods, I just recommend you the one that makes your mana regenerate according to your willpower level if you play as a mage, it was a must for me. There is also a mod adding combo effects to your attacks, just to make fighting more interesting. And lastly, download Morrowind Overhaul to make it look current-gen. I personally prefer vanilla graphics, but it's probably just nostalgia. I envy you! I'd give away half of my steam library to experience Morrowind the way I did the first time :,)

evey elder scrolls game is good, including the first ones.

i always add RP mods ( like for skyrim the ones where you can die from hypotermia ), companions and NPC's, i also raise the maximum amount of companions and play as a member of a small weak group rather than as a invicible level over 9000 god.

Absolutely play morrowind with Morrowind Overhaul for gfx. Make sure to have unofficial bugfix mod (not sure if that was included), and any mod that will delay the assassins from coming to ass rape you while you sleep starting at level one, since you'll have GOTY with all expacs enabled from the start, and normally they wouldn't come later in a game until you installed future expansions.

I honestly don't get why people say Oblivion has the worst storyline. Not a single one of Skyrim's quest chains has intrigued me so far. Then I think of the steady build to the final heist of Oblivion's Thief's Guild, then the defence of Bruma, then the hunt for the DB traitor, then the epic battle I had to retake the Necromancer's Amulet... I really, really don't understand how Oblivion is the one with the worst storyline when none of Skyrim's NPCs are truly careable about, nor is the plot particularly well written.

I'm with you on this one, Skyrim had a horrible plot without much story or character development at all really, and some very weak third party questlines. if you can call them questLINES
I would rate it on par with Oblivion's quests. Morrowind's were better in depth and scope but they still were not anything special like Dragonage quests for example. but there was definitely a lot more to them than either Oblivion or Skyrim.

Should i play them vanilla first?:) Or use Overhaul etc ( wtf is overhaul xD at "ABOUT" on their site it only wrote who helped with the project bla bla but not exactly wich mods it contains :) bleh i guess i should just prob play vanilla first times then get some custom mods tough the expansions & DLCs from Steam have it modded enough probably?)
Okay yeap i'll do just that :) same thing i was thinking about anyway & remembering about Gothic & other oldies but goldies games seems to me games should be played just the way they are :) at least first time ( & a few more,in case of very high replayability ones ) and only then MAYBE tweak them,customize,but meh they seem epic just the way they are . the GOTY seems to have nice stuff,expansions & wherewolves etc. It does say " The original Mod Construction Set is not included in this package." but i probably don't need that anyway for enjoying the storyline :D
