If anybody knows me well, they'll know that I tend to play on hardware, right up to chocking point (it did not choke. It's still alive and well), like I did on my AMD E-450 @1.66GHz x2, with Bioshock Infinite, Crysis 2, and Tomb Raider (2013).

Well, I am currently typing on an old netbook (I didn't know they still existed) with and Intel Atom processor, likewise @1.66GHz x2, but without the graphics capabilitities of the E-450. No hardware vertex shading, no T&L (whatever that means), and stuff. Also, I have only 1GB of RAM on this thing.

So this is where I ask for suggestions for games to play. But I don't want to know anything about old games, because I know they're going to run, and I don't need to make a thread to tell me about it. I just want to give this CPU the biggest dog it can chew. So what's good and hot on netbooks nowadays? Although I love suggestions, I would rather the game itself be good by its own merit as well.

Thanks!

By the way, I'm playing Fable because of the daily deal right now, but it's slightly spluttering, at maybe 10FPS, though I haven't bothered to check.

I'm going to be honest. You might not want old games, but you need to work within the limitations of the system you have.

I'll play old games from GOG, but I just don't want people suggesting them 'sall. I know they'll work, and it's not like I need people to verify that for me.
Anyway, that's what they told me about the E-450 last year, and look where that got me. Even if the Atom isn't as great as other bigger rigs, it's certainly going to be better than some old Apple II from long ago.

I understand playing games on an underspeced system (used to play Half-Life and Unreal at 320 * 200 resolutions because I was using a P133 with 16MB of RAM), but your opening post makes it clear this system won't handle much at all. Even suggestions of games over 5 years old might have trouble.

I had used a netbook until last autumn, I played HOMM3, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate etc. I know, they are quite old games. ^^;;
How about checking GOG Forum like this thread?

I'm so so sorry. I would recommend, maybe, I don't know, Fortune Summoners? Recettear? FATE? Not even sure if any of those will work. None of them are particularly new, but they're fairly playable still.

I'd use a system like that as a portable emulation station <--- that sounds epic right?
But that "no old games please" is killing me :(

2D 8bit stuffs like FLT and Terraria should work with that hardware. Also Fable TLC which is currently on sale.

They mentioned Fable in the opening post and how it doesn't work well.
