Excited for this, and a big reason why is that I think many teams are in with a chance. I see a number of teams with flaws and view it as quite an open tournament.
I'm going to go for Argentina to win it, and they don't have best defenders as individuals. Brazil could very well do it, but I'm not sure they'd be favourites if they weren't the hosts and being hosts might actually work against them in end. Spain don't look as good as they as they once were but are perfectly capable. Germany would be in with a good chance.
After those 4 I think there's a number of teams who if they find a team chemistry and effective tactics who could go on a run, makking the semis or the final. Talking about teams like France, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands, Uruguay and maybe even Belgium who have a stronger looking squad than they have had in years but will probably face a tough second round match.
Last time Spain were clearly looking better than the rest. There's not one team standing out on their own this time and I think that's a good thing.

I'm sooooo pisssed of! Since Yuichi Nishimura mistake everything was wrong... oh great and now Oscar is lying on ground just for fun... Pissed of! Croatia was robbed. And after that tying shoe.... F*** it
Foul on Modric -> Neymyar should be thrown out
Foul on Olic -> NO PENALTY KICK?!
"Foul" on Fred -> Penalty kick... ha ha ha nice joke
HUh... deep breath... ok I'm going sleep.

Dodgy ref, lucky Brazil, both goalkeepers useless.

This wasn't a penalty. First game and already the referee is deciding the fate of the game.

It's all about the money, when it comes to FIFA. And if you dare to say something about WC 2022, then you are also a racist.

Allright, what can I say? I live really close to Itaquerão, where the game was being played until about now. It's noisy as fuck here, and I'm seeing both happy people partying around about the game (shit, that penalty was shameful) and I've seen a crazy-ass riot earlier.
I've seen people getting shot at with no apparent reason, arbitrary arrests, and the demonstrators getting pissed off and fighting back the police.
I feel sorry for the gringos that came here to have a good time and landed in the middle of a war zone. Things weren't as violent as last year (when I protested and got myself in the middle of a very violent repression), but still... don't know what to feel about all of this. I like soccer, but I just can't stand what is happening in Sao Paulo.

Yeah, that friendly CG graphic thing was giving me crazy mixed feelings :/

sorry, what cg graphic thing? was it at the opening?
I wasn't watching the opening, as I was washing the backyard for my mother while we prepared popcorn. I heard the fans telling Dilma to fuck herself though.

if a defender puts his hands on the striker in the box he forces the ref to make a decision, the ref doesnt always get it right but imo the defender is to blame. simple fact to remember about modern football, players (striker in this case) WILL cheat, its up to defenders to wise up. ref was a homer and Brazil where lucky but thats just the way the jobbie splashes folks.

Riiiiight... who cares indeed... Why you even comment here, if you don't care? Go watch your ball-hugging!

More annoying than Catenaccio? I think not lol. Still, no one likes a team that wins dominantly (Euro 2008, WC 2010, Euro 2012) like Spain (Except the Spanish lol) , no matter who they are. While I personally do enjoy Spain's style of play a moderate amount of the time, I do like that it seems like someone else will finally take the crown. Still, let's not forget that they did lose the first game in 2010 and still won the whole thing. Will it happen again this time? Probably not, but they've done it before lol.

You've got a good point there, sadly I don't have the time to write a proper reply since this whole country is going batshit crazy since noone expected to even win this match, people are dragging their stereo outside and partying, lighting fireworks etc so I should really join them!
