I would like to be a biochemical engineer, work in pharmaceuticals and the like, but its pretty hard to start doing anything serious when you're only 16.

Pick good subjects and ask around companies you're interested for experience. At worst you don't get anything, but you can potentially make contacts and secure a future job!

I have an internship at an environmental science lab, and while the lab-specific experience is good, I don't actually learn anything about making medicines.

If you're interested in the engineering side of Biochemistry, getting experience in any sort of chemical/petroleum plant would be good since you can see the kinds of equipment you'd be tasked with designing/maintaining/choosing. If you're interested in the medicinal side of Biochemistry lab experience would probably be as close as you could easily get. Although, if you're interested in that would you not rather do Pharmacology?

I'm interested in the application about as much as the production. I live in the same city as Yale University, so I thought I'd be able to get a lot of opportunities to work in a lab, but apparently not. All the professors are worried about liability since a girl got her hair caught in a machine and died a few years ago. There was a huge lawsuit.

Oh dear. I guess just keep an eye out for any interesting opportunities, what may not seem entirely relevant to you at the moment could well help you in the future.

Next year I'm getting a bachelor's degree in film studies and a master's degree in applied psychology. Then I'm going to start some postgraduate studies in forensic sexology and continue my film studies to get a master's degree. And then I'm going to be unemployed.

I'm a university student studying philosophy and I'd like to end up teaching philosophy at community college. When I'm not being a student, I work part-part time at a comic book shop.

Studying something you don't like anymore is awesome, only because what I really wanna study is either expensive or nearly impossible to get into. I'm trying my best though, when the acceptance tests are (0-30 people max are accepted out of a few hundred....yes no one getting accepted is possible). It's for the film academy here in Vienna.

Accountant on a veterinarian diagnosis lab. Yup, a really boring job.
But while I work 8 hours a day, I just need 4-5 to do my daily tasks so I have a lot of spare time to just do nothing but watch how cool my hands are (that's what I'm doing atm, yay! Opposing thumbs!! >D)

I both study and work. I'm graduating next month (IT) and I've been working for 2 years as a Java Developer.
It wasn't easy to deal with 8 hours a day in work and approx. 3-4 hours at university. I'm glad that as of October after work I will be able to relax :)
