Aw man, I'm still on the first season (don't hate me :() so I've been avoiding this thread due to spoilers. But now you post a puzzle, why do you do this to me, Bobofatt? I'm going to have to marathon all the episodes up to the current one now.
This was your plan all along wasn't it?

This episode reminded me so much of Baelor from Season 1, it builds towards some of the most heartbreaking moments in fiction TV, and when only one episode left (in the season), there's a kind of sadness in me, that almost no TV show can produce.
(BTW, great puzzle)

I just watched the episode tonight and all I can say is holy shit. What a freaking crazy episode. My jaw just dropped open and wouldn't shut till the credits rolled.
I need to get around to reading all the books since I have all that's been released so far.

I planned to start reading once the show ends but if they keep filming one book into two seasons I don't think I can wait that long, was hard enough already.

Yeah, guess so but I'm still afraid of ruining watching the show by knowing what happens next. I know I wouldn't stop reading just to follow the story up to this point.
Right now I'm enjoying it being unaware of further events in books and without that very familiar feeling from other movies/series/games the book did it better even tho I hear once in a while that compared to books it's pretty good so far.
Maybe just green piranhas, uhm, dead army from The Return of the King traumatized me.

Ya I picked up book one again. I was already a little ways into it. This time I'm sticking with it.

ah, excuse me, just found it odd that the name didn't register as correct, when in fact it should be.

It's an old folks tale... About Byzantine emperor Tryan who had ears of a goat, and killed all barbers who admitted to noticing. One dude lied that he did not see anything, but could not keep a secret and he dug a hole, yelled into it, so the secret should stay a secret, and he would feel better. But alas, a tree grow up from the hole, and sheep herders made flutes from it's branches, and when they played those flutes, music told everyone that the tzar had ears of a goat.

I have only read the first book, so far, but this was a great tv thing they did - the whole moment when everybody (when I say everybody I mean Katy and the audience) realizes what is about to happen and the music change, you can't really do that in books. Great episode.
And about the quiz here, $50 contributor? WTH man!?

I'd say Texas Chainsaw Massacre as well for setting you up for gore.

I read the books before the episode and I have to say, knowing what happens does prepare you so it isn't a wtf moment... But even so, the amount of detail put into it and the quality of the acting is immense. As I say, I knew it was coming, yet I was surprised by how brutal it was. The other episodes have had gore and violence, but in never to the degree shown in that scene.
