Also, this!
Get your google fired up and prepare to hate me for about 8 hours. Trust me, you will want to wait for the hints. I might add some later. In fact, I already gave you one. Here's another: I use skype a lot.
Hate me as much as you want: this is what this puzzle is for. But the giveaway might be worth it: remember, not everyone will make it. You have until the 15th. You may not give hints, answers, or share any links that may make anything easier for the people doing this.
Bring on the hate!
1st Edit: P1Q2 - don't put the "!" in. I messed up a bit.
2nd Edit: P1Q6 - add a z at the end. Hint is singular, answer is internet plural.
3rd Edit: (Request) - third part is about general physics trivia - only ONE bit is maths, and another astronomy, but they are both related to physics. I am not giving any more help for the third part than this.
4th Edit: As of this point, you are allowed to give hints for the first puzzle.
5th Edit: You don't need no ".jpg".
6th Edit: Two people entered, one said it wasn't as hard as he thought it would be. I've been giving too many hints. All those who are already on P3 should not refresh. Changing Q1 and Q3 up a bit... IF P3Q3 DOESN'T WORK, REFRESH AND TRY AGAIN!
7th Edit: Last difficulty edit on P3... no, really - I'm not THAT evil - it's still doable with a bit more patience and some more involved research. Think of it as a reasearch project or a self-teaching method. I might make it even more worth it if you make it to the end with something extra. Blame a random russian guy for the increased difficulty. He added me on steam and asked me for free games in russian, forcing me to use google translate to figure that out. I then increased the difficulty of the puzzle just a tiny bit, but added extra hints for the "new" Q1. Going to sleep now... might consider lowering the difficulty in 72 hours by, well, a lot. Depends how many more people will enter the giveaway.
8th Edit: Okay! 160+ people have tried the first one, and only 50 have managed to complete it. I thought the first one was extremely easy... well, here's a bit of help (I'll actually post the direct link for the second part in two-three days or so, but that will only give you about 24 hours to actually complete both the second and third puzzles).
All questions in part 1 except the last one are about software or application I expect the majority of people using steam gifts to actually use. These include search engines, instant messengers, reference websites and the obvious "boiling water" thingy.
The last question in part 1 involves a certain pokemon with a "z" at the end. I am not going to say any more than this, as it's extremely obvious by this point.
9th Edit: I hope you have bothered to read these edits, because here's a pretty huge hint. y = e^(ax) (Bcos3x + C) <- that's the answer without the variables. All you need are the variables, which should be incredibly easy to find, making the entire 3rd question redundant. Hope you can see why...
NOTE: If any of the puzzles has a higher number of players than the previous puzzle, or if the number of entries is higher than the number of solvers for the third puzzle at ANY given time I look at it (about twice a day), I will delete the giveaway and create a new one, with a much, MUCH more difficult puzzle associated to it. Please don't spoil it for everyone else. If the giveaway receives only one entry, the person who entered it wins it automatically.
