I wish, i've wanted to make a game my entire life, but I don't think i'd be any good at it. I hope you find the team you're looking for

Well then start working on your wish! Like learn some java or c++, or maybe design and painting/drawing. :)

Honestly there's a couple of good flash engines that I'd recommend before digging into c++, nice way to dip your toe into dev without going 'full retard'
The hardest part (for me) is the art, you need a butt load of it and that's kind of hard when you have zero creativity.
Though I guess thomas was alone kind poops on my pity parade.

I guess he calculated the time and date using the Mayan calendar, when all game developing users on Steamgifts forum would repeatedly push F5. At that auspicious moment, when SG and developers equally align with the moons of Jupiter, he posted this topic for maximum reponse... I think ;)
In short: Have more patience Deadly, it might take a day (at least) for someone to show up ^^

Well I have some experience writing games, made 2 or 3 with friends on my University, but I'm too lazy :P
The games that we wrote weren't that good to begin with and they had poor graphics xD (at least they passed as projects for some subjects)

Well mate I want something simple and interesting, not something that requires quad-core i7 and 2x gtx 660. :D
EDIT: if you want to try, just reply here or add me :)

I said something simple, I agree to work on any game as long as it's nice and simple. So any genres.

If you seriously think about creating anything i guess you're looking in wrong place - you'd be better posting on professional forums, not on gaming comunity where 90% will tell you "I want to make gamez" and neraly none of them will have skills required.
Also you show no concept whatsoever so far - you only write "i want to create a game, if you're a coder add me" - that's lazy and unprofessional ;p you should at least give people the slightest idea what you want to create, what you can do, what you need others to do and what lever of skills you expect.

You're probably right, but on professional forums they wouldn't know what a gaming actually is lol.

Because programers mostly program and learn programs like maya, AE and etc. I know a lot of programmers myself (but they are not interested in game making tho) and they play only WoW and never heard of amnesia, LIMBO, bioshock or something.
Comment has been collapsed.
You make no sense - ofc some programers are not intrested in game making (it depends on what they specialize into), but if no programmers are intrested in gaming then who the hell program the games you play? Aliens? ;p
Not to mention the fack that I am programmer myself yet I believe I know a thing or two about gaming...

I replied above mate. And I edited the thread. Look above. =)

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish if you think that programmers no nothing about gaming. Because clearly games are not made by programmers.

I'm sorry, you need more than an idea for a videogame, to start a videogame being made. No matter how good of an idea you think you have, we are pretty much swimming in an ocean of 'good ideas'. Yes, even good ideas backed with concept art. Asking for people to do all of the core painstaking work to construct the actual game for you just because you have an idea and perhaps some idea on how it should look, is really assuming a lot on the part of your would-be workforce.
It's kind of akin to saying "I have an idea for a comic, and have worked as a data inputter for six years, are there any artists who want to work together to generate twenty chapters of this comic if I describe the flow of the core panels for you?" Yes. Twenty. Because creating a game with more depth or passion beyond a flash-based time-waster style game is usually quite a sizeable undertaking.
I mean, seriously, think about it. You kind of want a whole bunch of people to make a videogame, but you're not really going to be helping them in any sizeable way. Unless of course you plan to create all of the visual assets yourself, but even then you are expecting a group of people to work for free, on the hardest parts of a game, and with you as the project lead. Why would these people do this? You haven't quantified why they should work for free, let alone why they should work towards your vision and not their own.
I hate to squash your hopes but your pitch is horrible. Maybe you would have some luck if you said "Hi I want to learn to make art assets for videogames, and am willing to work for free on a project that -you- are in charge of".
Also, not sure if trolling, or-

Well that's the main reason I wrote I'm too lazy for this :D
Last game we wrote in a team of 5 was a 2,5D platform game on our own physic engine (openGL as a graphic) it took us a whole year to "complete" (2 subjects passed with highest grade). But it definitely doesn't pass as a game for other ppl to play, it shows that we are capable with some problems and we can make it work and more/less bug free.
So its good as a program project, bad as a game. Those are possibly the worst outcomes with the game developement.
Though it's also different to write a game for a subject with a goal of passing it when you need to share time while learning for other subjects and writing it in your free time as a hobby/entertainment or even learning experience.
@DeadlyCreeper And for the question about me joining, no thanks. Right now I'm bit overloaded with paperwork at my university (they made a total chaos for holidays this year). And I'll probably be busy when the semester will start. If anything changes maybe I'll give u a notice.
EDIT: Well this "complete" means that on the last update (merging AI part with sound/graphic part) it stopped working xD even though in parts it worked :P

Ok that wasn't lazy but the fact that I planned to make a simple site for my clan in WoT and couldn't start making it for 6 months is a part of me being lazy.
Duties are fine with me, I'll do what I have to do when needed, but as for a free time I prefer to spend it on entertainment than programming, although I plan to start my own project in a while (which means I even may not start it at all)

Can you actually hire? or you looking for volunteers? I can program on AS3 and use flash which is all you need to create a game.

I've already get paid for working as a web-designer. I just want something different.

well...i did that in 2-3 hours without knowing anything about this stuff, so it took me that time learning about what i had to do and doing it. now thinking about it...if i did this in a few hours, and you had 13 years of practice....don't tell me...you're the brain behind Last Light right?

For some reason I think that developers looking for work and money making opportunities wouldn't frequent Steamgifts. Just saying, if people want jobs they would be looking for them in job websites.

ok, let me get this right:
You have no programming or art skills and only some web design knowledge,
you have no idea or concept of a game you want to make and you are searching for people to make a game with?!
For a game you need a concept that you are 100% behind and the will to make it. Making a game just for making a game is no reason to make one. There are a lot of tutorials out there, that will give you insight in game development or on specific topics related to game design or development in general. Try to work out what you want to do, make it on your own as far as you can and then come back or better go to gamasutra or other development related site and ask for help. Start small and build up you skills.
I just finsihed a game design and game programming course at a local university and I was a programmer before that. I am working on a game of my own right now but have worked on small concepts for about three years now. I started with pong, after that got to breakout, a simple mario clone and so on. Building my skills in small steps and learned a lot in the course of these projects.
If you really want to work on a game, try to make one with the skills you have. Try flash or html5, make a small game with that.
As for the concept, what Uroboros said but it is important to have one if you want to work on a game of your own but try to find something that is interesting enough and not too vague. Write it down and read it to yourself, if it is something you would really want to play, good, now show it to your friends and ask their opinion on the concept. Do they like it, would they buy a game like that? Only if the answer is yes, you can start to flesh out the concept otherwise scrap it and start from scratch...
Sorry for the long rant and sorry if there are insults in it, I am no native speaker and do not mean to be rude...
Oh, another important lesson:
Your first game will not be great, it might even fail and be horrible but you will learn a lot from it...

with your first game, you should think very
and then, think

Okey, so I don't have any real experience because I'm just starting with programming and all that jazz (I made couple simple concepts/games like walk, collect etc. in XNA but thats it) but if you are looking for bunch of strangers to make some FUN projects/games that I'm up for this (as long as I'm actually useful). I think that everybody would learn something from that kind of experience. I can help with the graphic/images a little too.

Well, I need writer at the moment, if you're interested. I have story, but someone must add details, dialogs etc.

I am a strong designer in Adobe Illustrator, and am currently a logo designer. I don't think that applies much to the game world, but I would LOVE to be a part of something and learn to make some games. I know most people say this, but I'm a very fast learner. Please add me on steam if you want to talk about it, I'm very interested.

Hey. I was thinking, I can't paint or something but I'm working as web-designer from 4 years and I can try do some designs for a simple game or something. Is anyone interested ? We can later try greenlight it maybe. If so, add me. :)
Post-Scriptum: I can learn very easily to work with another programs than Photoshop, I'm very very advanced PC user. =)

EDIT: >>> CONCEPT <<<
Maybe something 2D with interesting story. Maybe some brother and sister trying to find themselves or something. Idk. I can do the graphics AND try to make the sounds. If you ask for genres - I play everything. That's it. :)
