Well the version they are giving away on Epic is the inferior version BS (it's marked as "base game") so it's even the triple shaft.

At least on Epic you can upgrade, on Steam you've got no option. Right now you can get the expansions (+ free base game = ultimate edition) for 7.49

That's pretty much what you got it for if you bought the Season Pass when it was on sale on Humble as well.
It's still an inferior unpatched version.

I know. the steam base version plus the season pass is not the same as the ultimate edition but that's okay with me. since i have the DLCs and the game on steam i am happy. I didn't want to revoke the steam key bought on humble just to save money. meanwhile ray tracing doesn't interest me

Tbh, I'd be totally fine with it too if it was patched. I don't care about playing offline but I do mind that one of the stories in the DLC pass can't be completed because it's bugged and they won't fix it. When you buy a game these days you expect them to fix their bugs and glitches, it's a minimum requirement.
Hopefully they'll patch that version for those who bought the DLC separately. That only seems fair;

Many devs don't care about the consumers, even the ones you see that do, are mostly doing it because the game is played completely online or mostly online, so they have to fix it or else they lose revenue and no one will buy the title in the future, like fallout 76 and how people warned others off not to buy it until it gets patched enough times so it becomes playable. honestly the gaming market which used to be an artistic market has become just another business oriented market , they don't care about proper support , or the consumers, there was a time devs would make a game so good you would be left with a blown mind, remember when half-life came out? or bioshock? or deadspace? resident evil 4? farcry 3 ? just cause? then most of them ended up milking the franchise for money, like farcry , RE, and many others , there are games that have serious bugs that go back to 2010 even and they still ask you for money when they haven't fixed game breaking bugs after 10 damn years

2 years ago
Permalink

ah you can't complete a DLC story because it is buggy? I didn't know this. so i wasted my money buying DLCs separately?. this bug is been fixed into the Ultimate edition?. this is a rip off :(

2 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Apparently that's the case on both the Epic and Steam "base game" edition + DLC. But yes it was patched in the Ultimate so I'd agree that's total BS. But then maybe with more people getting the "base" edition and bitching about it, that'll be fixed. Fingers crossed;

I hate them , I Personally haven't seen epic put the DLCs on discount , so you get a game for free, but you have to pay 30$ for the three DLCs while you can buy its deluxe on steam or other stores, activating on steam, for 15$ or 20$, now which ones better?

I don't know , I don't check epic, I don't even use any of these games they give away for free, I have claimed them, but their system has a flaw , or at least had a flaw back when I tried using it, see first of all it used almost 4 times the traffic it should have , what do I mean? the game was 28 GBs , I downloaded it , the launcher downloaded around 90 GBs , but in the end the game was 28 GBs after the download, not to mention that horrible speed while downloading, so I would prefer any store to epic, It has no Cart , no wallet, no achievements , nothing special compared to the other stores , also i have a couple of price alert websites setup for games, not once I have seen epic have any discount on the DLCs , or at least any good discounts , so even if that would mean the game and the DLCs would cost me 15 $ like my example , I personally would still prefer any other store with the same 15$ price for the whole deluxe version

Not much of a deal when you see some of the bundles but still very cheap.

2 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I haven't bought a monthly in years, and last time I bought a bundle at all was last year. It's hard to justify buying bundles for me when my backlog has gotten so large, I still buy stuff during the Steam sales because it's so cheap and I can just sell cards and the like so it feels like it's free.

2 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ugh. I know exactly what you mean! I have so many games to play, most of which I really really want to play.
Even all the while I wasn't working for cause of 2020, I maxed out at 6-7 games a month so it's hard to justify getting bundles.
I have been pausing for so long, Humble probably figured I left the planet.

I buy where I get good prices. Steam is not always that place. I agree with your first argument, though. This whole notion of regretting a purchase, just because the game got free at a later point, seems pretty silly.to me. I bought Control when it was new for full price and don't regret anything. Why would I?

Yep, when you buy or sell something, you become slaves to governments.

Governments tax the content creator and government tax the consumer, as if buying and selling something is an offence, while the governments and the religious institutions don't have to work even a little bit for anything, because they have the printing press to print all the money they want.

Nonetheless, the content creators too deserve something in return. Their work should not go unrewarded.

Digital social barter is one option. Everyone will contribute towards the requirement of society and the work is valued on the basis of contribution and everyone will take the things they need from the aggregate of all resources.

There will be no theft, no slavery and no richness or poverty, everyone will be happy (except those who take pleasure in pain of others).

I think this is cool. I would still prefer to have it on Steam, but to essentially get the Ultimate Edition for $7.50 (since the season pass is on sale right now) isn't all that bad. I bought it back in the days, one of the most deceiving games of my gamer career. I'm one of the guys for whom the game looks like shit, with ugly and blurry graphics, poor textures that look like a 90's game. I tried the unofficial mods, nothing fixes it, I ended uninstalling the thing. And I have a decent computer :)
Well, for free it's worth a try of course, but I'm curious how many of use have this problem.

I think the game has forced TAA, try to apply some sharpening to counter the blur. I am using Nvidia sharpening at 20% and its a bit better.

You can also try ReShade, there a variety of sharpening methods there, LumaSharpen, SmartSharp, AdaptiveSharpen, DELC Shapen, etc

Thanks for the advice. I may give another try one of these days. I don't feel like seeing the same game when I see screenshots from reviews: empty walls with almost no decorations, textures made for 640*480 screens, etc. I have to dig the matter again I guess :)
