Right now there is basicly nothing incentive to do giveaways. I think it would be a good idea if the person who does the giveaway gets for example 2% of the value of his/her game for each entry. For example if there are 200 entries for a game i put for giveaway, I should get 400% of my game as points. This way there will be a lot more giveaways.

I don't think this will encourage giveaways much. It's not a valuable reward. If I submit a game worth $10, and 1,000 people enter the giveaway, I'll get 200 points. That gets me 20 entries with 1/1000 chance of winning a $10 game. Combined, that's a 0.02% chance of winning a $10 game back. Expressed in dollars that's 20 cents back on my $10 giveaway. So, economically it doesn't make any sense to give away games just to enter more drawing. Giving away games is just something nice to do.
I gave away games I had extra copies of. If I wanted something back I would have tried to trade them somewhere. However, I wouldn't complain if I got some points back. Then I could enter more DotA 2 drawings. That's something I can't just go buy off the shelf.

This thread appears when someone clicks the button to enter a giveaway when they don't have enough points. So a lot of people end up here by accident, read it for the first time, and want to express a thought, even if it's just "thanks". Also, those people may not even realize it's a 5 month old thread. Give them a break.

Umm what prize and what jackpot? I think you should've put more thought into that. Also no.

300 points cap... most of the time I don't go below 200...
Don't like the idea. (This is in my opinion.)

I wouldn't mind this tbh. The prize should be the total of all entries into the jackpot (whichever is smaller). Of course if their points ended up being higher than 300, it would be rounded down.
This would result in points being lost more than gained (stops ridiculous reception of points), yet also adds a fun betting system.

Is there any point reward or anything for actually giving a gift? Or is it 100% "from the heart"

No reward, all out of the fuzzy feeling you get from giving something to someone.
Also it raises your chances at people inviting you to private giveaways I guess.

I suggest removing point entry from Group and Private giveaways 'cause when someone creates one of these, others will not receive any points. The system was created to reduce entries for giveaways. It is not necessary for these two examples.

Edit: This information is no longer correct, we have lowered the generation to five percent.
EDIT: Point System Now Live
If you check the top right, there's a number in brackets next to Logout, which represents your current points. At the moment, I sent everyone 100, and new users will start with 25. Now, how it works.
When a giveaway is created on the site, every single member gets 10% of that value in points. So, if I started a giveaway at this moment, for a $50 Steam game, everyone would now have an extra 5 points. When you enter a giveaway, you spend these points. If you enter for a game worth $20, you spend 20 points, and you'll see the number next to Logout drop by 20. If you decide to remove your entry while the giveaway is still open, those 20 points are returned. And of course, if you don't have the required number of points, you're unable to enter that giveaway.
At most, you can save up to 300 points. This way, people can't be inactive for months, and then return to thousands of points, entering everything.
Numbers are rounded up, so if someone creates a giveaway for a $1 game, 1/10 = 0.1 points, but that's rounded to 1, so it helps to contribute to everyone.
What do you guys think? Suggestions? I thought we'd try it out for a few days, and see how things are going. In short, this will allow people to choose which 10% of giveaways they would like to enter, giving them better odds for games they're interested in playing.
