I Have to go to the dentist tomorrow to get two of my wisdom teeth pulled. One is very impacted and also has a cavity to add. Apparently it's sitting so close to the nerve that I have to go to a super fancy surgeon for the risky procedure.

To help calm my nerves, I decided to complain on SG but then make it up by bearing gifts :P .
Here are some level 3 gibs

the gibs end way after your visit at the butcher, how do the winners get their games if you don't make it?

nah, it will be fine. ;P
i had two wisdom teeth removed back in my school days and while it wasn't exactly fun it wasn't too bad. luckily they only pulled out the teeth and not the wisdom!

I'll have a friend send them in my memory :P
I probably chose the end date so I wouldn't be drugged up and in to much pain to care about the winners xD

lol good to know it wasn't too bad for you, and you have you wisdom still intact :)

Just having one removed? Why not all of them?
When I had mine removed (2 sessions, 1 jaw side at a time) I thought I would go deaf. That loud crunching sound when he had to break them down with the drill and pliers. And it took what seemed like forever.
But the worst part for me was the injection. To sedate the area they make you endure the worst pain ever first :D

I'm actually getting two removed. Apparantly the top should be removed if the bottom is. The bottom one is just the one causing all the tooth pain. I would get all four removed, but I don't have insurance so these two alone are going to cost me about 1000 dollars.

ugh sounds like you had local anesthesia done. I believe I'm getting an IV sedation which is a little less scary then local but I'm still getting that mouth injection D:

1000 dollars?
Shit, here in Germany it was covered by the health insurance. Of course that isn't free, was about 7% of your gross loan then per month.

I had 2 wisdom teeth removed 2 years ago :) And now I found out that surgeon left piece of one of them still inside xD
So... better don't choose cheap one xD

You are going to be ok, just remember to take the painkillers early so you won't have to feel much pain :) Also eating real food feels really great after the worst part is over (pain, spitting blood and having the awful swelling).

My only real "irrational" fear is of dental procedures and tooth loss. This didn't help.
I had all four wisdom teeth taken out when I was in college...general anesthesia. There was some blood and some pain afterwards, but nothing debilitating. You'll be fine-- the build-up will be the worst part.

I wish I was getting general anesthesia, but they want to do IV sedation instead. I'm too scared to be awake lol
you are right about the build up though. I've been waiting for 2 weeks after making the appointment and it's been a long wait.

Hmm, that's too bad. Maybe they need to keep you awake due to the tricky nature of the procedure.
Good luck, Stef...it will be over soon! <3

Honestly, people make getting them pulled sound much worse than it really is.
The worst part is the facial swelling afterward. Pics please! xD

Good luck, Stef. :3

Whatever you do, leave the packing in the tooth socket for a day or two afterward.
I thought they left all that gauze in my mouth on accident and pulled it out - turns out it was there to keep the nerves moist, haha.

Dry socket. Mmmm. So nice. xD

Damn I hate going to the dentist, I'm really scared of... I know how you feel, and words can't really help you now. I send you a hug, try to relax today, some good music, a friend, a movie and do something you really like after the dentist. Maybe buy a game or something ;)

I feel with you! Good luck! You can be proud if it's done and you did it!

I just got one of mine taken off last week, and another one two months before that. I didn't feel anything. Not even after the anesthesia was gone. I didn't take painkillers for my first tooth but my dentist made me take them for the second one because there's risk of the area getting swollen, and apparently I should've taken them in the first place too.

What I mean is, each case is different, mine took two minutes to extract and yours may take an hour, but with current anesthesias the only thing you should be scared of is actually being immune to anesthesias.

Thanks for the reassurance. What type of anesthesia did you get?

It was local, but the doc gave me two doses both times because the first one wasn't strong enough.

It's gonna be okay. Don't worry about it. Watch a movie, some TV show, play some game, relax. Everything is gonna be alright. Also, don't forget to tell us what happened. Best of luck. :)

wow i'm surprised so many people saying it will be painful. All my 4 wisdom teeth are gone at this point and i only had lasting pain after one of them was removed, and to be honest it still hurt less than it was hurting before when the teeth was trying to coming out and was pushing all the others.
good luck with yours :>

The procedure wasn't painful but it was after the anesthesia wore off. It's true that it was more painful before the procedure, but I think the worst part is not being able to eat or do normal activities for at least a week :/

Thanks for the luck :)

i'm glad to hear that procedure went nicely. To look at the bright side, at least in one - two weeks you will be able to eat and won't feel any pain. also, congrats on beating your fear :>
