Normally I let the developers choose the winners, but Harebrained Schemes opted out and wanted me to choose. In these cases, typically I choose whoever posts the most compelling reason(s). This way I can see who will really play it, who wants it the most, etc.
So the better your entry post, the better your chance of winning!

I was going to join but it ain't random I'm not interested. You can never know if someone really wants it or not, people lie just to get free stuff all the time.

I see merit in both ways... Even if someone is not honest about his reasons for wanting to play a game, the fact that he took the time to make up a convincing reason would be kinda convincing...

This, yes. It at least ensures that the person who wins it had some interest in the game, rather than just going through and clicking 'join' on every single giveaway.

Its ok man, its your game and group after all, I just give my opinion. I tend to pass on those kind of giveaways that ask for an original caption or whatever, I prefer random any day

I usually also avoid the "post here to win" type giveaways, where more likely than not the "random winner" is the guy's friend.

My comment was general, not about you in particular, but if people just gave them out to their friends without the pretense that anyone could win, then they wouldn't be driving traffic to their site/group. I don't know if any of those sort of GA's are actually fake to try to generate traffic/members, but the chances are high enough as it is easily possible.

I try to be as fair as possible. If a non-friend posts a great entry, he will definitely win it over a friend. And my friends know I do not show favoritism in these giveaways. It's all good!

I either need a new PSP battery (PSP no longer holds a charge ; ;)or just buy it digitally on the PSN.
Probably cheaper to get it off the PSN. I haven't looked up replacement battery prices yet.
Ys Seven is the game that got me hooked on the Ys series. Definitely worth adding to your collection!

If you want cheap, I recommend looking at the price of a broken system. Something with a destroyed screen or the like.
I still have a broken system myself that belonged to family. No longer loads up the operating system to work, unfortunately. Too bad I can't give you the battery from that. :P
As for game that got me into the series, Ark of Napishtim. Still own it on PS2. Might grab on PC some day.

I don't own a Vita, and don't really want one (single account fun for my purchased games, I'd CFW and make sure I can play everything I own if I had a PSP).
I'd have a fair few Cross Buy games to play if I did have one, but split between two different accounts, so bleh.

Yeah, fair enough. The account switching and memory card are it's biggest flaws for good reason.
You can use a PSP emulator to play too though.
