Why? Because of some stupid video? Because the reviews what's based on the stupid video and was full of prejudices? The game is good and got some really good patches and bugfixes. I found only one bug in my 2 playthrough and that was a minor one, not a gamebreaking one.

Because the trailers and demos completely lied about what the game was and everyone who preordered it was screwed out of their money. Even if the game wasn't made by liars, it looks subaverage at best.

People are going to be prejudiced when a game studio lies to people and screws them out of $60. You can buy the greatest games ever made for $60, and these people were mislead into buying a shoddy, downright false product. Some random videos are the blatantly false trailers that the company put out.

I never talked about Lost Coast. I talked about HL2 DEMO. And Lost Coast came out after HL2. I also think the taste of shit and a general feeling about a game it's quite different...

I found it discounted before, and picked it up for 5$ (not even euros), still worst purchase I ever made, since I bought it i did a full run of the game and it was terrible. So many bugs, teammates randomly get stuck somewhere and vanish, there was this auto turret that was invisible and i went right through it, then it spawned and killed me, enemies sometimes randomly teleporting, and constant BS like that, MP is imbalanced since some maps are open and marines have clear advantage, some maps have tighter corridors, and you can wipe them all out with a single boiler. Hell it's full of flawed design, you can only work on three active challenges at the time, which you can't even pick yourself, and marines can get levels and upgrades while playing campaign, and xenos can only level in multiplayer, i could go on and on, but it's already wall of text.
tl;dr - stay away from it

I played it after the patch, and it was big because the game runs on Unreal 3 engine. They might have polished textures a little, added lens flare, and retarded film grain to lessen the work improving visual quality of the game. Not that I mind game with average visuals, but the bugs, and god damn awful story and poor design choices, was what killed this game.
