Who's heard their new song? What do you think of it? I thought it sounded more of a mix between self titled and Iowa, and I'm kinda hoping that is how the album will sound. Here's the song if you haven't heard it: http://www.slipknot1.com/

They are still around?
On my way to listen..

EDIT: No, The Subliminal Verses was their final album.
EDIT 2: Subliminal took me a few hearings to get in to it, this would probably take the same.

Nice. Thank you very kindly for sharing it, was waiting to see what they would do now. Unfortunately, (for us maggots, anyway), it seems as though a death blow has been delivered to Slipknot and, whilst very noble, the writhing and struggling is, at the end of the day, futile and soon we'll have the final nail in the coffin that is measured, suited and adorned for one of the, (arguably and in my small opinion), greatest bands to have ever made music for us.

That was amazing btw. But yeah, I feel like this is their last album, with Paul and Joey being gone.

Yeah, it's not been the same atmosphere without Paul. I was at Sonisphere when they did the 2 minutes silence for him. My God, that was surreal! 60,000+ people, all stood/sat there in silence for 2 minutes in tribute to Paul Gray. A very disconcerting experience but I'm glad I was there to show just a little bit of the respect we had for him.

Aw man I saw that on YouTube I really wish I was there. Hopefully I'll pick up a concert soon, missing out on Knotfest sadly. It was a moving just to watch. And being a bassist myself, I'm glad I know I can pick up my bass and play the songs he played for millions of people in his lifetime just for the joy of music and entertaining the fans.

Moving is certainly one of the words I would use for it. Even I teared up a little, and you could hear Corey backstage going beserk, (in a good way), because A. He didn't think the fans would stay silent for 2 minutes, and B. There were several other bands on at the same time on the other stages, all within good earshot as it was so loud, but every band stopped at 13:59 and didn't start playing again until 14:03, just to make sure they didn't overlap with it. The bands stopped playing mid-concert, mid-song for 2 of them, to show their respect. As soon as we heard Corey shouting about it backstage, we knew the 2 minutes was up and the cheering and shouts that came from the fans, well, it was pretty chuffin' intense.

I tried, many moons ago, to play guitar but I have a bad wrist due to a fiddly little bone in there, that I broke nearly 19 years ago, that never healed properly. So, respect for being able to play Paul Gray's contributions to the songs, must be nice knowing you can do something in tribute to him.

Lol no hate man, music is music to me. Except modern pop/hip hop and the remnants of rap. shudder I don't hate those who listen, I hate the music. Most of it is lazy, they say three words and play it over a loop. Ugh. I hate it.

You have a point... while I don't think it's a money train, because most of the band have other bands besides Corey. But this is the first anything without either Paul or Joey so I think it's their last full album, maybe some small stuff here and there.

Here's the thing.

Corey's voice is old and fucked up. But you can't blame that on the guy, years and years or screaming like that will fuck up anyone. Props to the guy for having better screams than All Hope Is Gone, that was 8 years ago.

Also, it's nice to hear some more "DJ" in there, seems they are giving Craig some more spotlight, which he deserves.

The song sounds brutal, and it sounds like IOWA. I hope they don't disappoint.

I agree. His voice is just about done, and tours are going to sound different, but it does sound better then All Hope Is Gone.

Just heard The Negative One for the first time. I think I like it. It's a nice throwback to Slipknot and Iowa. I really don't like the DJ stuff though. Sounds totally out of place.

slipknot is terrible, always was, too. never produced something that grabbed me, anything they tried was a half-measure and fails to leave an impression on me, anything slipknot can do, any other band can do more concentrated and with gusto.
