I've got almost 700 hours, 0 of which are multiplay :>

i could never get into single player, i got bored too quickly. imo it's so much better to have a friend playing. check out the youtube vid series of jesse cox and total biscuit playing it together, really captures how much fun it is with a buddy.

Sometimes I play with friends, but I definitely prefer playing alone, I have my "personal" map where I do things my way, completely on my own, I have all my stuff safely stored and organized and I don't like to bring people into it. Of course I have maps for multiplayer, but those maps aren't as good as my own map, most of the time those maps become a real mess.

I originally bought Terraria because it's like a low-key, lower price Minecraft, in a way. But the more of Terraria I played, the more I realized it's a whole new area away from Minecraft. In a lot of ways, it's a lot more fun - building houses is a lot less complicated, resources are a little easier to come by, and combat is definitely not as easy as minecraft's 'click click dead' system. Plus, no annoying creepers!
Minecraft with mods is still great, but I find I can't play vanilla minecraft without missing Terraria too much. Besides, Terraria's terraforming is a lot better than Minecraft's somewhat buggy world gen.

I bought it during the Steam Summer Sale, but haven't tried it yet.
As for games that I only enjoy multiplayer, that'd be Borderlands. I love playing it co-op with my brothers, but hate both of the games solo. They just seem so boring and lifeless solo.
I also play the Saints Row games exclusively co-op, although that has less to do with Saints Row not being fun solo (it still is), but rather the lack of other games with great co-op.

Is that screenshot thing for the Indie Gala screenshot contest? Clever ;)

I have almost 800 hours in Terraria (not all on Steam), pretty much all the Terraria merchandise they've made (shirts, stickers, posters, the keychain from the collector's edition, bunch of stuff), even have a Terraria tattoo. I'm crazy about that game.
I've played a few hours alone and I don't really like it quite as much. It's much more fun with a friend (my boyfriend, in my case). I probably wouldn't play it with someone I didn't know well, though. Couldn't trust them not to fuck stuff up.

Well, I did a YouTube series on Terraria with my friend and we are preparing for season 2 but yeah it's really fun with friends.

Played it ca. 100 hours (sometimes in offline mode). Mostly alone, but one day when a friend came with his laptop and we both played singleplayer, it was so great fun that we played through the whole night :D

For me this game was boring as...nvm, just boring. I can bet that playing it on multiplayer is way better
Don't Starve was also ultra boring until I played a bit longer, survived a bit longer, settled down with a base, survived first winter...it's just that the start is boring as hell

I preffer playing Terraria alone, to be honest.
I like doing things in my own pace, you know. With more players, you're constantly forced to keep up because otherwise they'll grab all the useful trinkets and weapons and leave nothing for you...
Though IF you can find decent, like-minded people to play Terraria with, then it's great and super-fun :)

Good to know that there are others out there who like to play alone and take their time with it just like I do.
Others rushing about, trying to grab everything is exactly why I don't ever really play ANY game with anyone except my bf. I like to explore slowly in Terraria and get settled and just do my own thing. In games like Diablo 3 or Torchlight 2 and such, I like to explore every nook at my pace and make sure all monsters and enemies are dead. I enjoy looking at all the little details in the game. And with most others, you can't take that pleasure or leisure, because then you loose out on all the gold, goodies, and good XP and fights.

Indeed!
I love to play in the exact same way, exploring every inch of the game world and often stopping to admire the scenery or whatever little detail catches my eye :)
In Terraria, I love building and digging neat tunnels and generally making my whole world look pretty... While many others enjoy killing everything that moves so they can trigger Hardmode and inevitably start complaining that they "beat" the game and they're bored now O.o

XD I do that in Terraria too. I am obsessive about making a nice "home" for myself and cozy little ones for the "villagers". I only kill the slimes when I need more torches and such. The other baddies I kill if they get too close or anything. I have a little system where I venture this way or that a bit, see what pops up as per useful minerals and such. Then make a safe mine, dig until sunset, head home and work on it some more and mine some under it.
And 3d games, I love admiring, because I do 3d artwork myself. So sometimes, it is cool to see how it compares and drool over nice textures. That exploring every nook has paid off many times too, because I find chests or hidden caches. Can't tell you how often going through building in D3, I stop, stare at the shelves of old books and scrolls, wishing they were real so I could reach out, grab them and examine them; enjoy that old book smell. My inner bookworm wants to hoard the books and scrolls. LOL
I do not get the whole "I have to plow through this game ASAP and finish it uber fast!!!!" thing. Money is tight for me, so if I am spending it on games, I am going to enjoy that game as fully as I can and take my time and enjoy it thoroughly. How can you truly enjoy a game if you approach it with the "Wham-bam-thank you ma'am" mentality? I guess, if you have that kind of money to throw away and bore THAT easily, it is possible. But I love to escape into the games, as much as I would a good movie or book, or even my own writing.

Yes! Oh my God, yes. Words can't describe just how much I love books! I wish I had a huge library filled with all sorts of books, old ones and new ones, scrolls and various pieces of texts... <3

Co-op all the way, but only with my friends that I can trust. They're helping me when I want to build something huge, or they're just doing something else when I'm working, but never making any problems :) And that's why I don't like public servers. Private>single>public.

I recently started playing Terraria again with a friend after never really wanting to play it again and found it was pretty fun. I think it's one of those games that are boring unless you play it with a friend. Has anyone else had this or is it just me?
If you haven't played the game before then I made a giveaway.
Also I need help with a screenshot being liked. If that could be done I would appreciate it. Thanks.
