Hello,
I have a strange issue on my PC running Windows 7 (Done all updates :D)
So when I leave it downloading some Games on Steam everything work fine but at some time it will say "Limited Access/No Internet Connection" And it stays like that (While my router is working just fine, no problem) till I come home and notice the download stopped and it says this message on WiFi Bar with a Yellow Exclamation Mark. So I disconnect from WiFi and reconnect and it works again till some time it restop and ...etc
Sorry for bad english maybe ? Thanks for help !

There is some sort of download quota active?

I don't think so

try factory wifi drivers instead of what windows just comes with.

Yes all drivers are installed (Bootcamp Apple Drivers)

i know, windows installs generic crap wifi drivers though for several models. try looking at what the exact name of your wifi is, and check the manufacturer of your wifi for newer/better/updated drivers that windows has no idea about.

Router problems sometimes

It could be a timeout with the router, it happens if the pc is online too long, the ip which the router gave to the pc is no longer valid. It happens if you let the pc running for days. It could also be other router problems.

Ps this should be in offtopic not in deals ^^

I don't think this belongs in the Deals section.

However, on topic, the culprit might be your router itself. Sometimes on routers with low internal memory or buggy operating systems when you download a lot of data the router enters in a "limbo" state where anything could happen:

  • Windows sees no connection or a limited connection.
  • No internet access at all.
  • Everything works OK but the communication between the router and the end devices becomes corrupted.
  • The router just freezes and a reset is required.
  • The download speed slows down considerably.
  • [Insert weird unexpected behavior here]

Bottom line is: try another router model and see if it behaves the same under the same circumstances. If the answer is "no", then the router is the culprit. If the answer is "yes", then you can start checking your PC for buggy drivers or wtv else.

Have fun ;).

starting with the wifi drivers is cheaper then buying a router just to see if that was the issue though imo. xD

Most of the time the culprit is the router itself especially if it is a cheap model. And this always happens when you download a lot. If you happen to have another router laying around then trying with another router first is better and it can save you a lot of time and trouble.

If you have no other router laying around, if possible, directly connecting your PC to the Internet (via a wired connection) is another alternative you can use to determine if your router is faulty.

Talking from experience, drivers are the least expected to be the reason in such cases, unless you work in a test case environment where you install lots of conflicting drivers or even beta versions.

But, having no idea whatsoever on their setup I'm recommending the fastest methods one can use to detect the reason for failure.

it's an apple though utilizing bootcamp. i'd lean more towards drivers and less towards hardware personally. or i'm sure they would of realized these issues on the mac os side as well.

It can be anything. Just to give you an example, a few years ago I found a generic Chinese router that had a firmware limitation of no more than 5 devices simultaneously connected. If 6 or more were connected then only 5 out of them all could have Internet access and those 5 were randomly selected each time a new connection was established. Have fun debugging that nonsense.

i agree it can be anything, but i suggest starting with the cheaper troubleshooting first (software/drivers or even settings), then move on to replacing hardware (router/wifi).

edit: just for another "anything" example, when this situation happened for me it was neither the router nor the wifi, it was an android device connected to it cause all other devices to lose their IPs. so i'm well aware of how far off things can go when troubleshooting, but i just think it's wiser to start small and work your way big (purchases). xD

Unfortunately, from a testing perspective, I don't agree because this means changing the test parameters and circumstances. By using other drivers one can introduce further driver based bugs and incompatibilities that can affect testing with fine hardware. That's why I suggested debugging starting from the hardware part towards the software part in order to be able to compare apples with apples (pun intended) and oranges with oranges.

But we can agree to disagree :).

hope that troubleshooting doesn't relay over to cars.

engine won't start
replace the engine
still wont start
replace the ignition
still wont start
clean the terminal
starts right up

i think starting with the terminal cleaning would of been smarter, you think starting with engine replacement is smarter.

edit: btw changing the router out for another also changes the test parameters and circumstances.. any change will, but since it's a change we are after though (fixing it), isn't that a good thing?

No, keeping your analogy, I'd recommend checking the battery not reprogramming the ECU.

Anyway, feel free to do it however you like. I don't intend to convince you of anything.

my analogy was meant to point out the big thing versus the small thing, not a direct correlation between wireless connectivity and running cars. ^^

(start small and work your way big rather then start big and work your way small)

it's all good though, i know how i'd troubleshoot regardless. ^^

This made me think about Lilliput and Blefuscu :).

Sounds like your wifi is overheating from running at its max speed for too long, disconnecting momentarily, and then your PC is failing to properly reconnect once the signal is available/stable again. It's an issue most cheap routers have in common. Easiest way to fix it is to go to Steams settings and limit the bandwidth under downloads to half of what your router is capable of.

If it only happens to YOUR PC, it's a driver issue. Remove all ethernet drivers and download them from your manufacturer's website (not from Realtek website). You probably have a laptop with lots of broken drivers, do not install drivers automatically. Always use the manufacturer's website for laptops.
It could also be a DNS/IP issue. Remove your DNS settings and release your IP configs.

In this case most likely yes.

However a while ago I had somewhat the same trouble at home and the issue was the router itself because it didnt support W10 for some reason after an update. We needed to change a couple of things and it works again :)

Try SlimDrivers. I had this problem on my Desk and Laptop...

I found out that my Laptop had outdated wireless drivers (the new one isn't perfect, but it is waaaay better than stock one provided by dell) and my Desk needs a new wireless hardware (and some few minors driver updates) because the old one was always giving me limited connection.

you actually had me curious enough to try it.. not a fan personally since i'm aware of an alternative that does the same thing.
i especially disliked that it installed slimcleaner without even asking me, but otherwise steam has an alt that looks to me like it has slightly better results.

Driver Booster 3 and i've yet to try 4, but there is also Driver Booster 4.

neither slimdriver nor driver booster caught the nvidia driver you can see in screenshot 1, but driverbooster caught all that slimdriver did (some not on screenshot, it had a scrollbar) and a few more.

Interesting... SlimCleaner didn't install here (I don't know why but I don't remember any prompt about slimcleaner).
I didn't know about Driver Booster so far. Looks like you got very good results there and I think I may get the same here.
My laptop is full of customized drivers and this thing really pisses me off since I switched to W10.
I'll give a try on Driver Booster. SlimDrivers was actually only one that almost solve all my problems...

on slimcleaner i didn't see any icon on the desktop or any sign of it until i went to uninstall slimdriver i saw right above it was sleamcleaner to uninstall. so i uninstalled slimcleaner first, then slimdriver. otherwise i wouldn't of even noticed it was installed.

driverbooster hasn't ever done me wrong. i know the negative reviews are kinda bad looking, but tbh anything that messes with drivers is always a risk really. it has rollback features though if your system doesn't go on the complete fritz and only some minor issues occur. (though it's not too likely to happen)

Your PC gets suspended after 15-30 minutes, so the wifi connection will lost connection and end up with the yellow mark. Go change your power settings.

It sounds like a DNS error, without any other information. Try using Google DNS for a while. After setting this, search CMD in your start menu, right-click Run as admin and run "ipconfig /flushdns".
