Any idea how stable the Beta client with the new UI is compared to the regular client?
I use Steam Link/Remote Play often, and don't want that to get hosed.

You wait up to 30 days before Valve officially start open testing.
They had a bug that allowed to sneak into testing, but it's fixed now.

Wait 30 days? Is there a date for the beta?

Here's some article that mentions August 2019: https://segmentnext.com/2019/07/25/steam-client-is-reportedly-getting-a-major-ui-update-beta-will-be-available-next-month/
But they don't really say where they found that date and I can't find better source, so, well, I guess fingers-crossed I didn't lie to you :)

How good is this source? Anybody actually connected to EA/Valve?

I would not say "it can't happen" , but why would EA suddenly start releasing their games on Steam again? They seem to be quite keen on pushing Origin Access. Also, I know two people working at DICE, and I've not heard anything about it getting released elsewhere from them. Granted, they're not in the upper brass, so they would not know all the ins and outs of what EA & DICE are planning, but I've heard no indications from them of EA wanting to change its business strategy in this regard.

Hmm. Why should EA some years after the release it now re-release on Steam?
They have no reason and they have their own launcher. Idk...

Games from the EA Access subscription will also be available through Steam starting in the spring of 2020.
Both Gabe Newell (Steam) and Andrew Wilson (CEO Electronic Arts) said they were excited about the idea.

'' This is a good day for gamers. We’re excited to partner with EA to not only bring their great games and subscription service to Steam but also to open up our communities to each other in an unprecedented way that will benefit players and developers around the world.

This is the start of an exciting partnership with Valve that will see us innovating for PC players around the world.

Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play. ''
