I'm so sorry all that happened to you! I'm glad you got it sorted and managed to get your Steam, as well as all your other important accounts back, and that no real damage was done.

Ah so thats why! With the whole online town square social thing i got used to people just disappearing for awhile (me included)- after all any amount of things couldve happened that only those really close would know about. But i usually imagine you know 'irl' stuff- a new kid, got sick, busy with work etc...wouldnt have guessed hackers
Dammit thats scary. The few times i got hacked felt so terrible and were nowhere near this experience you just had...
Im glad it all turned well in the end, welcome back!!
What saddens me a little is the tought theres a high chance its like a kid on the other side; Sure could just be a noob scammer that does that for a living but his social engineering seems very lacking- like he was making blind shots in a very amateur fashion ("oh i have compromising photos of you!") and trying one thing after another without any nuance. Its like a very very bad scammer medium - "I feel you lost someone... im seeing the letter A? No? B. I mean V. No K!"
Better see that as a positive- now you got wiser, better passwords... and 2FA have value. I use my phone very little too, im not into social media... years back i got into it and noticed my day was eaten just scrolling, unninstalled everything and never looked back... but 2FA for steam? Hell yeah, i use that, it is worth it.
I mean, i love steam but lets be frank- its one of the easiest things to lose for hacking. Bank accounts etc are always trickier... on top of hackers selling steam itens, reselling account and things like that some also use or sell the accounts for cheaters in games, so they can pass as legit (public account, bigger library, years) - and end up tainting your account with bans.
Setup the 2FA, it only gets tricky(contacting valve etc) if you somehow get your phone stolen AND lose your pc at the same time or something like that.
Welcome back!

Oldschool scam tactics never die. Most modern scams still use the same old stuff people been doing since the old west, medieval times... probably as old as human language. Its actually quite funny that tech and security evolved to a point that hacking nowadays resorts 90% to 'social engineering'- aka oldschool scamming. If someone time travelled a street scammer from the 20s, teached how to use email or phones he would thrive

Sadly in this world it's not really the scammers fault - most of them can earn more than a months wadges in one good hit compared to working a honest job

I agree but i would be more simpatetic if they targeted the loaded above all(some do). But sadly the majority target the common folk and low hanging fruit- people with low wages, the elderly, the lonely...
In a sense i see then as the same kind of people that ruin the world for profit and power, the difference being those are the ones at the bottom of the food chain. Good people(the majority, regardless of country, race, political views) play by the rules(or most of then) and wouldnt resort to harming others for their needs, save as last resort(famine etc); Thats also the mindset that doesnt profit enougth to become rich, with the exception of artists (much less then 1%) all wealth comes from some form of exploitation or another... wich is the same mindset basically- 'do what you gotta do(to suceed)'. Heck theres quite a bunch of know cases, big shot richest that started lying and scamming their way up. One of the most famous ones is the infamous Epstein... two other famous ones i wont name to not make things political.
In my country right now theres like 6-7 (that i know of) well off politicians that have literally past records as scammers or borderline so... sadly the majority of then given the chance would be the ones calling the shots and squeezing workers, driving low wages and so on, the same conditions they try to escape from.
The world is effed up but the majority in the same situation work the low wages jobs, get side gigs, even with kids... scammers are coming from a moraly flawed position(not caring for others) and greed. I do believe most dont do that out of 'evil', its not like theyre out to harm society... but thinking only of themselves and not really caring of the effects of what they do is the bread and butter of everything wrong with the world. Sadists, psycopaths, hitlers etc are a minority- everything wrong comes from the much more common 'evils' like selfishness, greed, simple corruption and heck even ignorance too.

As some might have seen or others might not care (or know who I am)
I was banned for just around 1 - 2 months and I think some of you wondered what happened so I'll explain:
I had a hacker on my e-mail account - well one of them I used for business things but the dumb thing was that the password (and stupidly the e-mail address as well) was one I used in many places including Steam
I saw them delete about 20k of e-mails form maybe 10 + years (I don't clean folders very much) in real time and got sent the usual threats and told my local tech guy what had happened and he helped me a lot as did my son
I had someone claim they had videos or photos of me which made me laugh because I hardly have any photos of myself in private - they then asked for some money about £50 in Crypto of course - which I did not send them
After time I got most of my accounts back - the important ones anyway - Spotify, Twitter, Twitch, etc.. Made a new gmail for business things that only really gets sent to people who need to know
But couldn't get Steam back as they had put a app that I didn't have for 2fa on it - my phone is a basic one that I only really need in emergencies - no apps or games etc... but I like it being simple
But the other day my son managed with the help of the staff at Steam/valve who helped us no end first lock the account and then confirm it was my account - so I have it back
I would like to thank the mods who acted so fast to protect the site and other people from my hacker who for a few days (no doubt when he thought he could still get the money/coins money from me) he sent some messages and links no doubt to try and get their accounts as well - I don't know what kind of messages - but I hope no one got hacked because of it - if they targeted you then I am truly sorry
I am back - if I go again you know why - but hopefully I am here for the long time again and I would like to say thanks once more
Update: Thank you - to all the people who were concerned about me and my account - I will try to add a nice giveaway here over the weekend to say proper thanks - it is super nice to see how many people actually like having me around (I hop and not just for my giveaways) but as a weird online person they sort of know
