I try to remember to do that, but sometimes I might miss one or just plain forget because I'm to eager to play my new game. I think we should give the OP the benefit of the doubt because he actively came here and said "whoops I won a game I own what should I do".

Bad idea. You should read the rules. As for "Don't enter for games you already own." - this happens sometimes for many various reasons but if you win game you already have you should not claim it and should tell the person who gave it away to ask for a reroll.

I'm assuming that what happened was you entered a giveaway, then decided to buy the game, forgot you had entered said giveaway, and ended up winning the game. Personally I don't see any problem with making your own giveaway IF that is what happened. Just look at it from this point of view: You won the game and liked it so much that you bought another copy to give away. I know it's technically against the rules, but this is bound to happen from time to time especially when Steam has such good sales.
