WoW...brilliant arts. It's so sad that someone as talented as her needs to go through bad times. Sadly i don't know anyone who can help her out, but i have a piece of advice. Tell her to try contacting some rockbands, movie companies and even gaming companies. Her work is not to be wasted. She can send email with a few examples of her work, a little story of her actual situation and pray that someone will help out. You never know, and it never hurts to try. Good luck and I hope she will solve her problems.

Yeah... We have been contacting companies and looking for freelance jobs but... Sadly we had no the reply we were looking for, I think she's really talented too and do not know why she's taking too much for someone give her a try :/
Thanks for your comment, we'll still fight ^^

I've been thinking of that, but maybe my thread don't get attention, and don't know in which subreddit write it xD

The my post can get removed by moderators, I'll look some subredits and see where I can write a thread, but I don't think I'll get much there >.<

That's for general questions, can't post this personal situation >.<

Is the only community where I put this situation, everytime I posted something here felt like a warm place with nice people, maybe don't get that much help, but the feeling of someone hearing (or reading xD) you is something :)
Thanks for your comment! ^^

Glad you see it that way :D
PD: En una convención de cómics la gente pensaba que era Voldemort de Harry Potter... -.-"

Bump :-)
Some of her very good art reminds me of Victoria Francés.

That's a really good artist, nice compliment :D
Thanks you! ^^

ehh, I canot find a link now, but do some internet search as I've seen several sites and at least one subreddit dedicated to finding exactly these kinds of freelance jobs for other people in exchange for paypal/bitcoin money. Like someone posting "looking for an illustrator" or someone posting "I'm an illustrator, here's my portfolio, looking for jobs". Anyway good luck! :)
Oh and speaking of portfolio - make her pick some of works she thinks are the best ones and make even a basic portfolio webpage (you can make a basic but good looking portfolio webpage using free soft in a matter of few hours). She can link social media sites where she present her works, but she shouldn't do only that - best way to gain an attention of potential employer is to showcase your best works in easy and accessible way in one place instead of having him digging through DeviantArt and all your posted works ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah you're talking about /r/forhire subreddit, maybe we post a thread there and see if we have a reply.
By web portfolio she uses this, it has a nice looking and have tons of her works with social media there, she can't have an independent web for showcase her works >.<
Thanks for your help! :D
Comment has been collapsed.
that should be good enough for starters ;) In future you can think of setting up her own webpage though, ofc when financial problems are over, your own webpage with your own domain always will look more professional even if it will be very basic one ;) And hosting + domain costs are not so high, especially for something so basic, where you won't need a lot of bandwitch or fancy administrative options ;) Registering a domain is few $ for a year, shared hosting is few $ a month, all added will be a fraction of what she can earn with a single of her artwork and may get her more serious employers ;)
Yet again - Good luck ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah surely when she get over this and has a more stable financial situation she will get a domain :)
Again, thanks ^^

Yes, good suggestion. Create her portfolio website, and then some kind of social media strategy, linking to your website. An artist page on Facebook is always a good bet. Also, maybe Tumblr or Pinterest, since we are talking about an image heavy strategy, which is good, since image has a lot of engagement potential. Lastly, consider LinkedIn for building a professional network (and finding contacts) and Google+, referencing the website, for improving the website positioning on Google. Also, very important, the website must be responsive (built to work perfectly on Smartphones and Tablets). Most CMS's (content management systems) these days have already several responsive themes built-in.

Thank you again! :D
We'll get through this, for sure

Someone already mentioned Reddit, but I'd try posting on Imgur. More than once I've seen these kind of posts receive lots of support and hitting the front page.
A big pro is that you actually have something to show. Create an album and publish it, and say the same thing that you did here.
Good luck!

Good idea ^^ We'll work a post and see what happens, though I'm really skeptical with this things xD
Thanks! :D

Well, Imgur is a hit-or-miss kind of community. Either you get stuck in usersub, downvoted to oblivion, or hit front page overnight.

I wish I had an excuse to commission a piece, but I really don't. At least the cost of living in Spain is cheaper than the U.S., so any donations will stretch a little further.
We should have her sketch new profile pictures for people for a nominal fee!
Comment has been collapsed.
That would be a thing! xD Profile pictures for everyone!
Well, in Spain prices are low, yes, but if you don't have job it doesn't matter the price because you can't buy almost anything >.<
If you feel any time you or anyone you know want a commission just give me a call ^^

I've told you how amazing I think her art is before and I still mean it. As talented as she is I know she'll make it through this tough time. I wish I could help out more and I don't know if its of any help to you but you could try www.freelancer.com.es/hire/Artist
I wish ya'll the very best of luck!

We've tried that kind of sites but found nothing :(
For sure we'll make this, but we have to work and keep going forward.
Thanks for your kind words ^^

Incredible stuff. This isn't my field, so I can't help, but I hope such talent will be recognized by the right people.

I hope so too, but it's hard to find >.<
Thank you ^^

I'm always posting her works on Reddit, but it's really hard to get noticed there xD
In Freelancing webs we've been looking things, but there's nothing, just logo and graphic design stuff
Thank you! ^^

bump, I don't know how to help you, sadly, but I hope it's seen. Maybe you can also try tumblr or something like that?

Ye she has tumblr but... You have to make contacts and that stuff.. -.-

How about applying as a freelancer for now? Studios are mostly looking for stuff for advertisment but maybe there is a niche for book covers et cetera? Maybe look for contest about album art or something. I bet there's a band/artist looking for something. This would get her started and get some promotion.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sh'es a freelancer for now, she's taking commissions, but taht doesn't make sure the money, and she needs some stability now
She did book covers, images for band and things, but didn't serve as much :/ We went to comic conferences too and made some money, but still not enough. Thank you for commenting ^^

Well, living off of art and design is never a stable thing, but I bet she already knows. There are ups and downs. Speaking from my own experience, from friends I have had and people I've met. You really need to make a name for yourself until you can have a constant income. I guess the best way to go is apply as a graphic designer, but as you said, the job market doesn't seem easy in Spain, so I think that's all I can say about this.
I hope she'll find something!
Comment has been collapsed.
I think she should not give up and meanwhile, while still applying, both for artsy and more trivial jobs, try and concentrate on clarifying her art goals. The hard truth is, publishers (and, to some degree, bands too probably) usually go for cheap stock photo / photomanipulated covers these days, so it's hard to get by this way.
There are many nice art communities that should be helpful, with free podcasts and tips.
http://chrisoatley.com/, for instance, is very good, I never used their paid lessons (I would invest in Magic Box if I actually had Photoshop lol) but even reading blog posts and listening to podcast is quite helpful. Since your gf likes more dark subjects maybe she should give a try to http://crimsondaggers.com/forum/

Sorry for the overload, I just really think that in those times when the situation is so f&*^ed up that one usually just worries, cries and spends the day curled up in bed, you can actually turn things around. It's probably the best time to watch some impressive stuff, grow artistically and make those "nothing will work" voices shut up. Ironically, at those times you are so weak that you can't really act. But you can still watch and listen to stuff.
That's the theory at least.
I know it sounds cheesy, but I'm also at this point in life where things suck and I really, really don't want them to suck this bad, so I just bathe in this hope, grind my teeth and do what I can each day.
All the best for you guys! I hope the sun will shine for you soon.

In times when someone is with emotional state you can make it for show some of inner world and share some impressive art.
Don't worry for the overload, it's always nice to have people hearing when you need most, you did for me, so the least is do the same for you. Really sorry to hear that... Surely you'll shine too, that much you won't need any sun :) Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us ^^

Can't help with this right now, but wishing you all the best.
If you can find the right place to post this, I'm certain that there are plenty of people out there who will be keen to make use of her talents.
Good luck :)

That's what I'm trying right now, making people notice her art :)

Wish you the best of luck, I know what it feels to be in such situations.
It's maybe an already know thing but I'll tell anyway hoping it can helps.
Have you guys tried things like Patreon? Her work are brilliant and Patreon is a crowdfunding platform for artists (in general)
Or even kickstar can work sometimes even if it's not really designed for that
Doubt it will raise much but can help
Comment has been collapsed.
I've talked about that to her, but she doesn't feel she will gain that much public :(
And there are some talents right there and she feels intimidated for that...
Comment has been collapsed.
I'll keep trying to convince her :P I think that too, but that doesn't depend on me :(
Comment has been collapsed.
I agree, it doesn't hurt to try. I wanted to suggest Kickstarter, but Patreon is probably easier and more regular income if you can get it. It's also possible to do both. Kickstarter would be good for people who are willing to pay once (for example for a print or PDF book of her works, or for a custom work at a high level tier), while Pateron is more for those who want to support her on a regular basis so that she can create more works. A combination of both might work well. Could fail as well, but there's a change it will work if she tries, and no chance if she doesn't.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'd try Patreon for sure, but she's the one has to take a decision and for now she doesn't want to do it, she'd rather keep practising before doing that so people get better works for what they pay, that's what she says.
Thanks for your comment! ^^

After some googling I found this website: http://www.conceptart.org/go/artjobs/
This is what they claim on their website: "The largest Art Jobs Board, with 8000+ Companies and 500,000+ Artists"
Tell her to try looking for a job there. And let me know how it goes.
Also I have to say she's pretty talented, and you're a great boyfriend for trying to help her out like this. I wish both of you luck.

It sucks that your girlfriend is currently in a tough situation, but at least she' doing what she loves.
A while ago, I saw a movie about some prostitute where she was framed for murder. She goes for a run and ends up working in some brothel. It made me reflect upon my life cause that's not how I would like to live. I don't want to spend rest of my years working in some whorehouse, pleasing men while on a run from the police. Besides, I don't do things half assed so it would inlude a lot of rough, intense gay sex where I would spend hours in a hot shover later scrubbling myself to wash away all the crusted bodily fluids others left all over me. It doesn't seem like something I would enjoy doing even though I would dedicate myself thoroughly.
So have that in mind.

She's doing what she loves, but not getting almost any money for that... That's the problem :/
She's been looking for jobs but it's really difficult nowadays...

Well, I've been sharing with you works of my girlfriend (sorry for spam xD) but today I'm a little desperate with a situatio she's facing now.
The bank is going to take her parents' house (she is living with them) because of a mortgage her brother can't pay and the guarantee was parents' house, we don't know when or how, but it's something that surely will happen.
So they need now money and she's applying for jobs but here in Spain we're in tough times and it's really difficult to get a job.
If you know someone who's looking for an illustrator for book cover, portratis, or a publisher or any company to send her portfolio, any advices, tips or whatever, please tell in comments, everything will be appreaciated.
Give it some love here: http://imgur.com/gallery/8JE16/new
Her gallery:
DeviantArt
ArtStation
Facebook
I will delete this post if it's considered as begging or something like that (though I'm not begging money >.<)
Thank you so much!
