Hello, this may be a silly question, but since I have not created any GA until now, I have this doubt: is it possible for create a GA of a game to be given directly from Steam? I mean, Steam doesn't give a code, it just delivers the game in the library, so I was wondering if this works too or the creator necessarily needs to have the key (bought from another seller)?

You can also gift games directly, for that you need to add the person as a friend and then buy it, but their price is not allowed to be 10%(?) higher or lower than what you pay for it.

Yea. Although it is stupid:). I mean, rule that you are not allowed to make GA if the price in receiver region is higher by >=10% sound reasonable and make sense. But I dont understand why it is not allowed to buy at higher cost and give it to someone?

Ps. Also in the first instance it could still be allowed if someone would be pay this higher cost (and agree for this)

Yeah I never understood that either, if I am willing to pay 25% more than that person would pay himself, why does Steam mind!?

This.

I mean... in a perfect world it would be really cool when you're gifting to someone in a lower priced region if you could only pay what the recipient normally would - but this would be a good start. And it would basically be free money for Publishers and Valve.

Last I checked you can totally send someone a gift regardless of how much higher it costs you in your region. It's only if it costs you 10% or higher percentage less than the recipient that it won't let you do.

Purchases made in Brazil can only be sent to Steam accounts in Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Bahamas, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, Brazil or Mexico (you can create a GA restricted to these countries).

Edit: You can create your GA (restricted) and then add the winner on Steam as the maruten commented (I've done this a few times). Just be careful to not do this too often as I've heard of accounts being banned (or suspended idk) because Steam thought people were commercializing these games in some way. : |

If you want to gift a game directly from steam you should add in the giveaway description that the winner has to accept you as a friend. Also note that the winner has 7 days to activate his win.
