Spoiler: Unuseful thread now with ga

My pc is clinically dead.
At startup doesn't start bios and fans go full speed.
I took out ram and gpu, changed psu, cleaned and visually checked the mobo.
No way it starts.
It literally blew up in combat. Class 2007. Military honors deserved.
Ejected.

Edit: what do I have to take in account when buying a new pc to warrant I can boot into my old win7 HD? Some limitation regarding Intel cpus if I don't mistake...

Edit 2: all fixing tried by now, next step is buying the next one. Advice welcome. Title changed.
Budget: 1000€ for pre-built pc plus monitor.
Desired specs: tower, silent, low consumption gpu, no overclock, time proof inside the expected usage, no overpriced or "enthusiast" parts, capacity for multiple HD, compatible with win7 is a plus.
Expected usage: office apps, web browsing, light gaming.
Gaming bits: HD screen, few recent games, most are 3-4 years old, most interested in Sim racing, vr headset support would be nice if not so expensive.

Edit 3: added possible builds.

12 years is a worthy age for a mobo. But yeah, sounds like the CPU or the board itself gave up if you don't get to the bios.
RIP PC.

I'd suspect capacitors since those have a 10 year life span.

i had a thing with CPU water cooling - Fans always 100% max speed, never stopping.
Returned by warranty and they said the pump went crazy..so i got regular CPU cooler instead - 4 yrs ago (or was it 3)... :)

let it rest in peace, mate.. I can feel you, on March, 2018 my windows 95-turned98-turned xp PC finally died and it's been a tragedy to me! I think I changed everything of it, I made it run ultima online around '99, then new radeon things for nwn, warcraft.. and yeah it finally died, I used it only for simple tasks in the last years but still it ran perfectly.. best of luck for your future!! =P

SSD and HDD's are completely different parts of the computer lol. those would be fine, he just needs to remove them and put them into another computer and he is good to go

Sometimes you can't recover everything. Like if you had your 'personal' files in a certain folder that was specific to a certain log on account and then your OS install didn't work with your replacement hardware and so on and so forth...

It turns out that even if your HDD isn't the faulty component a hardware failure can be still be a nasty surprise if you haven't planned ahead.

thats just not how it works lol no data is stored on your motherboard of other components other then OS activation cd key which is stored on motherboard.

moving your storage drive to a new computer is basically the same as starting up your old computer

A dead CPU could show what you say. The motherboard won't show the bios If the CPU is dead. Better check which parts are useful with a PC tech guy.

If you're lucky, it's the CMOS battery. Try to replace it before doing anything else.

IIRC some motherboards won't display anything unless some good RAM is inserted, so I wonder if RAM could be an issue?

I had two Corsair dimms, one stopped working but the other one was okay. So I used one dimm until I could replace the other. If you have a receipt, your manufacturer may offer limited lifetime warranty like mine did.

buuuuut it's a pretty good time now to get yourself a new pc. amd ryzen had quite an impact on the cpu market.
and ram & gpus aren't as crazy expensive as they were in 2017. as long as you don't want some rtx 2080 ti that is...

Rofl, my kids are in that age when they have better things to do than play with parents.
And ofc I also have better things to do than repair some vintage it, like go shopping for a new one in an air conditioned shop.
