I know it's kinda of an odd question to ask here but i can't find any answer even on the HB subreddit, so my question is... do Devs and Publishers get money when we buy the Humble choice bundles (and only humble choice, i am not asking about the other bundles) when we pay for them or do they get their share of the money when HB buys the bulk of keys from them?

Thank you!

I tried looking through the Humble Choice FAQ, but I don't think it says anywhere how much goes to the devs. It just says that 5% of your membership goes to the featured charity each month.

On another page, they say they give developers 75% from games sold in the Humble store. I still haven't found info about Humble Choice.

From other threads where people have asked the same thing, the only response seems to be that Humble has not released how they split the money between themselves and devs for the Monthly/Choice bundles.

I would imagine it varies depending on how popular the game is. They will probably give a bigger percent to a very good game that a lot of people want because it will get Humble more subscribers to the Monthly. They will probably give little to no money to a small indie game that nobody has heard of because the indie dev will probably be happy to get their game into the bundle even for no money because the exposure for their game will be huge.

I believe I read Humble paid the devs of Cultist Simulator a flat sum to feature it in what was then Humble Monthly. I’m on my phone so I can’t look it up right now, but it would have been in one of the CS devblogs where Alexis Kennedy talked about game biz stuff.

The reason I bought my first bundle years ago, was because of the ability to pick how much goes to charity vs developers vs HB.

Those days are now over, and a much larger company has now bought them out.

Now they seem to be just yet another bundling site that buys keys in bulk, yet regularly runs out of the more popular games, but will sell to you anyway, and sometimes make you wait wait weeks to receive a key.

HB still has some good bundles, but Fanatical is starting to feel like it has better deals, or at least more options.

God, I just had that with a game I won here on steamgifts. Got a Humble Link and couldn't redeem a key for 3 days because they had ran out of them. So stupid that you pay them for a product they don't even provide you directly (without clarification of that). xD

Should be illegal to not have some kind of pop-up at check-out at the very least.

There'd be hardly any complaints if they'd simply inform their customers in advance.

The dev of Basingstoke answered the question in the steam forum on August 4th 2020 after the game was in the Humbly Bundle July 2020.
He said that they got about 10 cents per copy. Though he didn't say if they got a fixed sum for a bulk of keys or ~10 cents for each used key or somethink like that.
Anyway...that isn't much money to get I'd say....
