Edit (4): We're discussing changing the entry requirements in the group right now. We haven't agreed on anything final yet, but for now, we're considering at least 30% finished games won on Steamgifts instead of the current 20%. There will also probably be different requirements for users with a low amount of wins. As soon as we have decided, this topic will be updated, until then, wait a bit with your application if you have finished less than 40% of your won games, and if you have finished less than 5 won games from Steamgifts. The new requirement will probably not be as high as 40%, but if you're at 40+% you should be well above any new limit.

Edit (3): The Dark Souls III giveaway in the group is now over, but there are still a few more giveaways running (and check how few entries the giveaways have, good chances of getting some nice new games to enjoy), including the currently third most wishlisted game on Steamgifts, hopefully they will act as some kind of incentive to join the group. Do you play the games you win, have over 20% of your won games finished, and meet the other requirements (Level 4+, 1.2 or higher sent to won real CV ratio)? Then you should join, the group could still need a few more members! Read the rest of the post on how to join.

Edit (2): This group could really need a few more members, so I'm lowering the entry requirements to Level 4, 1.2 sent:won real CV ratio, but I would also like to see 20% finished won games on Steamgifts instead of 10% before any new applications. So, a bit more relaxed SG-account related requirements, but a higher percentage of finished games.

I'm hoping to add 10 more members to the group.

Edit (1): The group is now live, and a few invites have been sent out. For those of you who haven't joined/applied, if it's any incentive to finally create that BLAEO account, you can check the group giveaway list, in case there's anything there you would enjoy playing.

I'll go through this thread and write some replies later this week.

Original text:

Most of the time (maybe 98% of my giveaways) I'm happy if the winner marks the game as received, and getting a "thank you" is always nice, but sometimes I really hope that certain games I give away will actually get played. These games I've mostly given away through my whitelist, and it's worked fairly well, but inspired by aurorable's "Win, Play, Win more", I've had the idea about a giveaway group with a similar concept. A group wouldn't be as excluding, and would also make it possible for others to easily do giveaways for the same group of people.

This is the first time I've ever made a group, and I don't know how much interest there would be, but I'm hoping for at least 20-30 members.

The plan is, leave this recruitment topic up, hopefully get at least 20 applications, and then get back to it in about a week from creating it, inviting applicants and doing some giveaways for the group. I have a few nice giveaways on their way, and I was planning on doing them for this group instead of my whitelist.

Requirements:
Since this is a group for people playing games won on Steamgifts, the main requirement is to have finished/played some of the games you have won. The more the better, of course. To make it easier for me/future admins of the group to check progress in games won on Steamgifts, a BLAEO membership is required (and yes, I've asked mandrill, BLAEO creator and got an OK for this requirement). It's a very good tool for keeping track of the progress in the games you have won here on Steamgifts, and also works as a support group for those of us with a backlog ;)

When you have a BLAEO account, after doing the initial sort-all-your-games (drag-and-drop, takes 1-3 seconds per game), I would encourage you to do a list/"attack plan" containing at least one game won on Steamgifts. It doesn't need to include all your unplayed wins, or be followed step-by-step, more as a general plan, perhaps just the next 10 games among your won games you want to play, and/or any games you are already currently playing. If you're in the mood for other games, just add them, takes just a few seconds through the BLAEO interface. If you've already been an active BLAEO member since August or earlier, you don't need to have a specific list.

The recruitment to this group won't close anytime soon, so if you still have too many unplayed won games, just start playing them, and note the progress over at BLAEO, and you'll be closer to being able to apply for the group.

As I mentioned earlier, I was hoping that this group would attract like-minded, who also think it's a nice thing to sometimes do giveaways for people who are more likely to actually play the games they win. To make it more likely that the group won't die after the first giveaways I'll do, there will be an initial real CV ratio requirement of 1.5:1, as well as a Level 5 minimum. These might be lowered and even removed in the future, depending on how many giveaways/entrants there will be in the group. Lots of giveaways and low amount of entries means the group could use more members, and the requirements would be lowered.

My plan is to not have any giveaway requirements in the group (only do giveaways when/if you feel like it), but I'll ask the future members for their opinion on this.

Step-by-step application process:

  1. Level 4, 1.2 Sent to won real CV ratio (initial requirements, might be lowered further on, read more above), 20% or more finished games from the ones won on Steamgifts. You should also have a public Steam profile, and activated all games won on Steamgifts. (Please also see Edit 4 at the top of the post)
  2. Apply for BLAEO here
  3. After logging in to BLAEO, sort your Steam Library in the categories
  4. Make a list/"attack plan" over at BLAEO (a list containing at least one game won on Steamgits you're playing/plan to play soon). Have you been a n active member of BLAEO since August 2016 or earlier you can skip this step.
  5. (If you haven't already) Start playing your won games!
  6. Apply in this thread, to help out, you can format the application like this (but using your data instead of mine):
    [BLAEO profile](http://backlog-deepness.rhcloud.com/users/tso184)
    [BLAEO attack plan](http://backlog-deepness.rhcloud.com/lists/rlw8o4l)
    [Real CV Sent](http://www.sgtools.info/sent/tso184/newestfirst): 3633.23
    [Real CV Won](http://www.sgtools.info/won/tso184/newestfirst): 1457.55
Real CV Ratio: 2.49 (sent/won: 3633.23/1457.55=2.49 in my case, you don't need to add the info inside this parenthesis)

Have fun playing some games, and I hope to see some applications here! If everything goes well you can expect some invitations and giveaways in about a week.

There isn't a set limit for amount/percentage of finished/played games of the ones you've won, but I would like to see at least 10% 20% finished games won from Steamgifts before you make an application. Over 50%? Impressive! Apply at once :)

Awww, but I don't wanna use a tool that will basically remind me how ridiculous my backlog is and how much I suck at dealing with it. :P

However, this group actually sounds like one I'd wanna include in The-List™-Of-Groups-That-I-Make-Giveaways-For® (if it works out as you plan of course, I pretty much have the same concerns as Adelion who summed them up rather nicely).
So, would I be able to qualify without BLAEO if I mentioned that I had over 50% of won games completed during aurorable's event and still do? :D

I would guess your backlog is a lot less ridiculous than what some of us have (I noticed your 5000+ achievements, nice!), but it's a nice community of people working on them, regardless of whether they have five games to play, or 1000+ (in some cases only counting the games won at Steamgifts).

Sorry, but I don't think I would make any exceptions from the BLAEO requirement, but over 50% is very nice, I'm hoping you would reconsider.

Well I guess I have everything needed.

BLAEO profile
BLAEO attack plan The sg-win is "The typing of the Dead"
Real CV Sent: 1,179.75 $ (only through shady cv farming)
Real CV Won: 458.90 $ (I actually took a liking in winning)
Real CV Ratio: 2.57 (ratios D:)

The won on sg-list is missing Counter-Strike Complete and the Ether One Remastered version, which came with the normal version.

I only played CS:GO out of these 6 entries. However if they get added later, I'll mark two of them as "completed" in my backlog - I played too much CS and CS:CZ when I was younger. Since those games don't offer any achievements as incentives to play them again, I doubt that I'll start them again. :D

In any case, I should stay above 50% done :P

Seems like good extra motivation, as well as a home for some GAs. BLAEO has definitely made me more persistent in playing games through to the end, rather than getting distracted. (Sadly, it hasn't stopped me falling for tempting bundles...but I'm only human!)

Great idea for a group! It makes me extra happy when a winner comments on the giveaway after they have played/completed their win (: But I have too many unplayed wins (and too large a backlog in any case), and I've stopped entering giveaways for quite some time because of that. I guess the time I finish all my wins is the time I apply.

I am open to being a guest gifter if you want those though. (:

Thanks for the application, keep it up with playing/finishing won games on Steamgifts! You can bump this when you're somewhere between 10-20% finished and there might be a spot then depending on how the group evolves.

How about checking again? I've had a couple of beaten games that weren't classified, since I wanted to finish them to mark them as Completed instead! Also, there were some "games" that were going to be impossible to complete, since they are actually videos (Like Payday 2 Trailers), so I marked them as completed.

Not sure if it's fine, but that should give me 18% from Beaten/Completed only! :)

Unless you are asking for a flat 10%-20% in a single category?

Thanks for looking up my application :)

Hm, I'm seeing 17 games, which of your 146 wins means a bit above 10%
BLAEO reports 141 wins, I'm not digging into the reasons for that, but it's still a bit on the low side I'm afraid.

Maybe I wasn't clear on the percentage being amount of finished Steamgifts wins? I'll edit the original post to make that clearer.

This isn't a one shot thing though, if things are looking better further on, you would of course be welcome in the group by then, and it looks like you've got some nice games to spend your time with until then :)

Cool, was thinking about joining BLAEO some time ago. But I thought I have way too small backlog to do it.

Can you have not "OMG-so-enormous" backlog to join them? Like I have just 20% of unplayed games on Steam and I already beat most of my SG wins?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Of course! I always get inspired when I see people who have done a good job playing most of their games. I'm a big fan of the monthly themes overt at BLAEO, that might be something you enjoy with the few games you have left.

Also, most of your SG wins finished, good work! Sounds like you would be an excellent member of the group!

The size of backlog doesn't matter really. It's the group focused on you defeating it. As long as you have at least 1 game in backlog, it's all good :)

I like the idea, I only enter for games that I'm interested to play out. Or atleast try. Some games just don't reach far with their depth. Guess shouldn't expect much from bundle games though.

Sadly the requirements are too tough for me personally. But this thread certainly is worth a bump.

As a sidenote, how the hell is one able to have full completion on games such as EU4, Crusader Kings 2 or even Civilization 5. I would never play a game for their steam achievements. Most games get way too repetitive to do em all.
Only one game that I have played so far has any use for achievements and that is Binding of Isaac. But that game is built around achievements.

Have a bump from me. Good idea, my ratio is not enough though. Anyway, not entering many GAs for some time already.

P.S. Just checked my stats of SG wins and they are pretty bad D:
1% | 65% | 22% | 4% | 8% (not going to play anymore, not played, unfinished, finished, completed accordingly)

P.P.S. Now I moved my priorities in games to play. Won't change much, but thanks :3

I hope this group will take off and get a few members, it's a bit left until the 20-30 I was hoping for, but as planned, I'll leave it open for about a week and see what happens. There might be more interest after I post the giveaways I had in mind, we'll see. There's also the possibility of changing the entry requirements.

I think the level of the user could be reduced. I mean, if they're actually playing their games and they have a 1.5 ratio. It would seem so much better than I imagine most people do. Plus, I think it would allow more of the community to be able to join. Random suggestion.

Anytime I see someone in the 100 game range win, it's already a question to how many they have played. Random thought.

edit: you could have a dumb idea to try to motivate group giveaways every x games completed or something as 'fun' or as an incentive.

So far I'd say I've completed around 50% of my won games, 1 is almost 100% but I'm fine leaving it there, another is a roguelike... and I don't enjoy it, but I'm around 20% of the way through I think. Last one I haven't touched, but should be fun for halloween.

It's INSANELY disappointing to see some games I've given away not be touched or just farmed, it feels like a straight up insult (Especially since I try my best not to give away trashy games) so I don't want to do the same to the amazing people I've won games from.

Edit: Forgot to mention that besides Stray Cat, it may take me awhile to finish up more of the others as I'm doing a Metroid marathon with my SO. Too much backlog, even beyond Steam. ;_;
