"According to new reporting from Platformer, Twitter has temporarily closed all of its offices, and employee badge access has been suspended. As of this writing, details are slim, but Platformer managing editor Zoe Schiffer says that sources claim CEO Elon Musk is "terrified employees are going to sabotage the company." Offices will apparently re-open on November 21st. The reporting comes after Musk gave employees a deadline to join his "extremely hardcore Twitter 2.0." According to The Verge's Alex Heath, many employees have turned down Musk's offer to stay, and those remaining fear that the odds of the website permanently going offline are very good.

It's only been a few weeks since Elon Musk took over Twitter, but the website's future has seemed grim ever since. Musk spent $44 billion on the company, and promised to make massive changes to the platform. However, all of Musk's proposed changes have faced major pushback from users. The Twitter CEO started things off by making a controversial change to the platform's verified users, giving blue checkmarks to any user willing to spend $8/month, and promising to remove verification for users that wouldn't spend the money. As a result, famous users like Stephen King balked at the change. In protest, verified users began to impersonate prominent brands on Twitter, and the chaos convinced some advertisers to leave the platform.

Musk has also been publicly fighting with Twitter employees, and even fired some by Tweet. The Twitter CEO fired a large number of employees right from the start, and reports indicate that the company was forced to ask some of those employees to return after their termination. All of these issues show a platform in complete disarray, and incapable of keeping vitally important employees.

It's difficult to say whether Twitter will be able to weather this storm, or if the company will be able to keep the lights on. Musk's attempts to recoup his money while changing Twitter's culture are clearly not going well, and it remains to be seen how things will go from here.

Yes, the goal is to move them to "similar companies".
You can think about which company and which country is behind this.
(It would be easy to invent such a conspiracy theory).

However, as is the case with Tesla, it is natural to assume that the person has knowledge of currency and financial affairs, given the relationship with Meta and the founding of PayPal, and this is not a laughable aspect given the current production base of the company's holdings and related operations.

Bad jokes aside, I personally would like to know where Mastodon's servers are located where "freedom of expression" and "freedom of speech" are most respected.

That's the thing...
The laws in the area where I'm lurking may conflict with the laws related to "telecommunications carriers".
The cost of the procedure in this country is not ridiculous.
That's why we expect people to create servers in other countries..(ノΘ`)

The reason for this hassle is that there was a time when Chinese students illegally installed VPN servers and used them in large numbers for black market financial transactions and fraud.
We had no choice.

I just don't have the best "rules" for me on each server at the moment.

Is there any server out there that has absolutely no restrictions on expression or speech like Pirate Island?( 「'Θ')🔭 🛰🛸🌕🏝🏴‍☠

In terms of guidelines, this is consistent with freedom of expression and freedom of speech.
However, there are no users.
It may be a good place to practice operations. (There was no information available that would tell which area of legal classification)

[Delusions of a Crazy Earth]

  1. loss of source of information investment companies
(Decrease in economic activity in the consumer society and drastic reduction of mail order business in the Corona disaster)
  2. loss of means of informal investigation of citizens with mental and economic problems in public institutions
(Increase in the number of people dying unnoticed, increase in the crime rate due to desperate behavior)
  3. loss of guarantee of continuity of the ability to send out messages by SMS
(introduction aversion to the possibility of the same thing happening with other SMS and loss of a means of investigation)

4. Loss of investment economy decision criteria
(all currency exchange, stock and futures trading will be delayed at the stage of transition to the old infrastructure information and may trigger the Great Depression)

Personally, I think that the sudden termination of service conflicts with the perception of such an attack on social infrastructure.🤔
Well, the impact will be reduced if tools to easily migrate Twitter accounts to other similar services appear sooner rather than later.

This is the content of the cosmic toxic radio waves received.
I do not know if it is true or false.

He read through the terms and conditions of the "💳credit card🏧" industry.
Then he found a curious item.
The credit card company can create a grace period for the exchange of foreign exchange for credit card payments, and the debit period can be moved up to one month at the convenience of the company.
Then he realized something wicked.
He can take fees from both the credit card company and the consumer by taking care of credit card payment problems on their behalf.
Furthermore, by providing the same terms and conditions from the credit card company to the wallet company, he can have the means to settle payments at a convenient time for up to two months against exchange rate fluctuations.
(Adjust the terms and conditions according to your local laws!)

Having gained an unbeatable weapon against the foreign exchange and virtual currency markets by linking multiple payments, he decides to create his own world by joining forces with a country of his ilk.
However, a certain country has taken his life in a certain way, effectively making a deal with the 😈 and depriving him of his soul.
He is now a ....😉

I think I saw a bad joke like this somewhere once upon a time.
It must have been in a dream.🙄I do not know the basis for this delusional story.
Who am I to come up with this nonsense so often?
Personally, I am skeptical about the "monetary economy" of mankind.

Creating reusable rockets, and picking up where NASA failed.

He didn't ... Like the shuttle program was already reusing space planes and there was the X-33 and X-34 that were canceled. The issue was not ability but cost, which was trending downward as technology progressed.
You can learn more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reusable_launch_vehicle

Setting the electric car industry in actual motion.

Again, no. Other manufactures tried to do EVs as far back as the 90s but they didn't really take off (granted, the industry itself was partly to blame). However, even though full EVs didn't take off, hybrids did, which set the ground work for EV adoption. EVs didn't comeback into play until around 2008, when technology made batteries cheaper and regulation/subsidies made them more attractive. While Tesla has become the largest player within this space now, the Nissan Leaf was the most popular EV car until 2020, and Nissan was the biggest player in the space during this time.

You can learn more about it here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Launching the Starlink project. So communication will finally reach world wide.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Starlink is not the only player within the space, though most definitely the most well known.

But fucking up Twitter is not gonna make me forget that this dude is doing more for mankind than any of us fools around here.

But he hasn't though. He is just a popular rich dude that people hero worship and attribute all these wonderful qualities to without realizing that he is a horrible human being. He has said and done some pretty fucked up shit. But it is always excused by people like you because folks see his companies as the zenith of technology while in reality they are merely capitalizing on already existing developments within their respective spaces. Being the richest doesn't make you the smartest. It just means you have more money to burn.

You get facts and history as a response to a puff piece, and respond (still without providing any evidence) that you're right because you're right. And you even reject reading any actual data.

Oh the internet. Bandwagon and anecdotal evidences. When responding you should show statistics that shows Musk is a messiah in space of electric vehicles, space, communication (and supposedly now social media). But you won't, as those don't exist.

Musk only had luck when jumping from one lucrative-starting business branch to another. After groundwork was already done, but it was too early to push and commercialize before. He's not Edison. Wonder why he won't invest in say nuclear fusion? Because there is not enough groundwork done for him to jump in with few billion dollars, pay a lot to gather the best specialists in the field, and use progress in say magnet manufacturing to prop him up.

Puff piece? Oh the irony 🤣

Going full def mode and circle-jerk-hate-orbiting Mr Musk and what he's got going on today, cozily klinging onto linking well-duh-pieces about pre-existing tech. Sillyness. But all too common :/

Musk only had luck when jumping from one lucrative-starting business branch to another. After groundwork was already done,

That's what a great/successful mind does in any endevour regarding business and technology. Call it the science of opportunity if you will. What else is there? Magical snapping fingers? Voila!... me make fusion?

Get with the times. Collect the right people. Invest heavily. Take massive risks. Work all day/night. Aaand get hated for it... I think thats the formula.

And Edison? Ah yes.. the science thief of old. Not the best "savior of comparison" my man/lady.
There is a reason the car company is named Tesla. I can also link stuff.. other people wrote. Me smart.

But ok fine... this musk dude is a complete arse. Didn't even invent fire. What a waste of Space.

Social media is already very concentrated to a few companies, so Twitter dying wouldn't help anyone.
Not to even mention that social media isn't some concept you can just shut down and say "Welp, everything's better now :)". It's a Pandora's Box. People use it, people rely on it and a void will be filled. It's just that it won't be filled with some up and comer. It'll be filled with Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok and I doubt anyone would love that unless they're some big company simps.

With how it is going, im pretty sure people will switch. No work is worth it if you have to go overtime and under constant threats. That's also a reason why people are quitting. People on twitter are big deals. They will mostly get jobs somewhere else if they moved. Unless if all the layoffs are affecting them greatly and/or people dont want to risk it, which again, i stand by my decision - it is not worth it.

Websites will come and go. Friendster was the thing before facebook goes, and even now, i doubt younger people use facebook. Same thing will go with twitter. There will be an alternative (or there might even be one that idk yet). People switch to that, more users, more job opening, people that were laid off or worked in twitter moved there (or others, you get what i mean).

Tl;dr: unless musk changes his way, it is going down. He needs to learn how to treat his employees better.

Twitter shutting down, is like if Disney+ shut down. All the users will be doing the same thing, but with fewer platform options there will be an increase in traffic on the sites that are left.

I've not bothered with twitter since it launched, and only read a few dozen tweets like i would quickly read a short news article on popular culture.
Only reason i have an account, is it makes it easier to read others tweets, and there are giveaways that often require following on twitter.

63% don't use twitter, 28% will still use twitter. 'Only' 9% will leave twitter. That along with whatever Elon is doing and the advertisers leaving will hurt the bottom line (stop giggling!). Twitter never made money and Elon clearly has no clue what to do with a social network. I'm just waiting for the announcement of somebody giving those 50%+ of ex-twitter employees some money to start an alternative (I know that Mastodon exists...). Even the German government is 'concerned' with the situation (https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/unternehmen/bundesregierung-twitter-praesenz-101.html) and that means... nothing much, but it still means it is not only some silly websites going crazy about what's going on.

If you think Elon is going to let his 45 Billion investment just wither and die, you aren't thinking straight.
He is going to clean house, most employees will get fired or leave and the remaining will be the ones that will work the way Elon wants them to.
Short term, there is upheaval, but it's not as if Twitter has a physical product they need to make. The website is functional and online. If for the next few weeks while Elon hires more people, there are no changes, it will still continue to function.
The people leaving are mostly leaving because they expect to get kicked since the way they work is obviously not acceptable to Elon. So they decided to leave before they can be kicked. End result is still the same.

Personally, I don't really care either way. It's fun to watch from the sidelines as someone who never had a Twitter account. But looking as Elon the businessman, I don't see him losing this short term. Long-term... who knows. But the short term is not an issue.

Not denying that they are struggling financially right now, but it's still not going to close. Especially not within the first month of Elon taking charge. I couldn't care less for what happens to twitter. It helped idiots get their opinion out in the world. Sadly this narcissistic egoism has spread to every other platform, but as far as tiwtter goes - IMO it's enormously idiotic platform. Brought way too much attention to people who don't deserve it.

As far as workers being fired and leaving - I do believe the company was way too bloated. Same with meta actually. Those companies bloomed in the current IT bubble - they could pay way more then average, they could burn money left and right. And while I of course would love if such an attitude would spread to other fields, I just don't see it as being feasible and sustainable. Take the stupid breakfast deal in twitter musk talked about - cost 450$ for a worker just because no one was turning up for work.

Benefits, snacks, coffee etc are good little things if planned accordingly. I even see lunch and some fun stuff now and then as possible options that can be brought to the worker without bringing the company into downward spiral. But at one point if the workers are in thousands and you have no idea what is happening where and you are just senselessly burning money on perks for people who are basically employed just for the sake of them being employed - that is just counterproductive.

And I have worked in both kinds of companies - previous workplace I had 3 offices just to myself, I was theoretically working like horse while actually spending half my day playing video games on company property. One would say I should feel good as I could do all of my tasks and find time for leisure - but I was burning money as these things could have been planned a lot better. Possibly done by some other person. I eventually left either way for a company which is in startup phase and 8 hours work is minimum. Of course if I am productive I will take an afternoon off if I have some plans, but at least I am not sitting without work and I feel I matter.

I know this is very individual stuff that depends on person from person - but I have MBA and experience in leading a team and building a company. I just see these bloated IT companies with unreasonable pay and benefits a bit too much. Don't get me wrong - I would love if every person in every field would be treated like this, but it is just not sustainable.

IT social media companies bloated in past 2 years due to COVID. People literally had to sit home, and what you do when you sit home? You go on the internet. Now, when COVID is gone and people are back to more normal schedule, companies realized their huge hiring strategies backfire. As they have over employment, in a time of actual market shrinking.

And they had to pay more and more and more to hire those in the first place, as big demand meant IT people salary was going up.

It's tragic to see people from India or other countries getting hired by Facebook and relocate to the USA. To just be fired on the first week as Facebook realizes they don't need this person. But it was also predictable this bubble will burst now and people will be left with nothing, as USA worker laws are a joke.
