Time to appreciate what we have. What is your favorite win, and why?
(Maybe a question that has been asked before, but what's the harm in getting new, fresh answers?)

The one at the top for me is probably Staxel. I probably wouldn't have bought it in a while had I not won it and I'm so glad that I did. It's a Minecraft style Stardew Valley where the focus is more on building houses for new villagers than to farm and make money. Love it a lot, really chill game.

Also going to mention G-senjou no Maou - The Devil on G-String. I wouldn't have played this if I hadn't won it because I was pretty unfamiliar with it, and boy would I have missed out if I didn't because it is a wild ride from start to end.

I do appreciate most of my wins though, being on SG has really made me more open to trying new games that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise!

My absolute favorite is Reventure. I knew nothing about the game at the time & had zero expectations. Glad I won it, such fun & joy :D
Another example — Eidolon. It looked "ok game" from screenshots, but I wouldn't buy it myself. But it the end I was hooked and loved it.
Actually, I can tell "..but I wouldn't buy it myself" about almost all of my SG wins, and that's why I love SG — a lot of unexpected discoveries :)

I'm gonna go with Mirror's Edge since that game is in my top 5 favorites anyway, Sunset Overdrive and Yooka Laylee are pretty close tho.
Yes, I have a bias towards platformers and 3rd person action games, I'm a 90's kid.

Mafia II (Classic) I was not even interested in a game or series when I won it, but I installed it few months later and had a blast playing it

Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller the 4th game I won steamgifts and I think I've put the most hours into it. It re-sparked my love for point and click mysteries.

Just Cause 3, i was afraid it would be some boring crazy grind, and yes there was a lot of grind but super fun !
And Dead in bermuda too, so much that it made me buy Dead in vinland after that.
Recently i just restarted Frostpunk, so i hope to play The Rifts very soon.

  1. Remember Me: it was a little outside my comfort zone (I'd never played a game like it), but I loved it, and persevered to get 100%.
  2. LEGO The Hobbit: great game, played with my kids; and it's also that it was a GA from a quiz/ITH on one of my favorite subjects-- American Football (NFL).
  3. Ori and the Blind Forest: obvious

most likely my first win - Serious Sam Double D XXL - which made me to create giveaways on my own :)

For me a close choice between two games but for very different reasons.

  1. Nier Automata - I knew the game was highly rated but not being a big fan of the genre I had low expectations of really enjoying it but wanted to try something different. In the end, I loved playing the game and 100% cleared it and I am now much more interested in that genre.

  2. Disco Elysium - Being a game in my favourite genre RPG, I had high expectations being a big fan of planescape torment, Baldur's gate 1+2 etc. Overall, I really liked the game but did not love it as it did not have enough gameplay for my liking. Almost 100% it until they added the hardcore achievements.

I was the most excited when I won Kingdom Come Deliverance, back when it had just come out. But there's a lot of games I won that I wouldn't have try otherwise and miss out on some gems. Most recently, Hollow Knight which turned out to be amazing.

Sniper Elite.

After watching some gameplay videos of SE3 and 4, I really wanted to try 'em out. I've got this thing tho' where if there's a game I want to play that's part of a series, I prefer to start the series from the very beginning no matter what. Even if I end up abandoning earlier installments and move on to the next, I still gotta try. I didn't really expect much from the first Sniper Elite, so I was already glad to have gotten it here instead of buying it myself, but then I actually played it and holy crap it is SO GOOD. "Glad" went to "ecstatic" in the course of just a couple of missions.

Prison Architect. I enjoyed it a lot, and it's probably the only game I can show proudly to my wife

Hollow Knight and Ori and The Blind Forest.

I thought I hate tight platformers after I played Meat Boy and They Bleed Pixels. And I thought that Ori is nice and relaxing platformer.

But damn, I love both of those. Even when there were moments when I wanted to throw my keyboard out of the window when playing Ori.
