Time to appreciate what we have. What is your favorite win, and why?
(Maybe a question that has been asked before, but what's the harm in getting new, fresh answers?)

The one at the top for me is probably Staxel. I probably wouldn't have bought it in a while had I not won it and I'm so glad that I did. It's a Minecraft style Stardew Valley where the focus is more on building houses for new villagers than to farm and make money. Love it a lot, really chill game.

Also going to mention G-senjou no Maou - The Devil on G-String. I wouldn't have played this if I hadn't won it because I was pretty unfamiliar with it, and boy would I have missed out if I didn't because it is a wild ride from start to end.

I do appreciate most of my wins though, being on SG has really made me more open to trying new games that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise!

I have so many favorites. All the games I won are good games.
To pick some of them, Bioshock collection, Borderlands 1 & 2, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, Saints Row 3 & 4, Yakuza 0, Fallout 3 etc.
The only won game I have given up on is Hyper Light Drifter. Its really tough to play it with KB&M. Tried multiple times, but didn't succeed, couldn't even beat first world boss.

I won some really sweet games on here so far and one which I couldn't possibly imagine enjoying so much was a game called This War of Mine. A pleasant surprise.

+1 This War of Mine, I only enter Steam Wishlist GAs so all of them are great to me but the top favorite so far is this game.

This. I doubt I’d ever have bought it otherwise, and I loved it and sunk way too many hours into it

Among those I managed to play yet, several stand out be it for quality or invested time, such as Stardew Valley, Hearts of Iron IV, Gris etc.
But none gave me greater joy than Tales from the Borderlands.

I think it'd be .hack//G.U. Last Recode; I've put almost 300 hours into it, and while I hated most of the characters at first, almost all of them have really grown on me in a way that characters usually don't. I can't remember the last time I've played a JRPG that I hadn't played before, and I really got into these.

I agree, too: the biggest reason that I'm still as active here as I am is learning about new games that I wouldn't otherwise. We all know about Resident Evil and all that, because every retailer is shoving it down our throats; what's harder to learn about these days are the medium-obscurity titles, and SteamGifts is great for that.

Wow... If I am not mistaken, you are the one who won Greedfall on that Humble Choice kinda event and you don't pick it as your favourite... I would have treated it better :'(. You break my heart </3. (Just joking xD).

Anyways, I don't have THAT many wins, but I really appreciate them. If I have to mention the top 1, it would be Hollow Knight. It may not be one of my favorite games, but for many reasons it could be my most appreciated:
1° I don't know now, but at that time there weren't many giveaways for that game.
2° It is a game I was thinking about buying for more than a year, but I didn't do it (and didn't have to do it :D).
3° My first win of a giveaway with over 1 thousand entries (it was around four thousand, if I am not mistaken). It was the biggest surprise when I won it (if had such a low hope on it, that I even forgot joining that GA).
4° Over 40 hours of playtime already (i got stuck in the Path of Pain, but I will resume it when I can forget the pain :')).

For special mentions, Mothergunship was a game that I never thought it was THAT MUCH FUN, so it was a big and welcome surprise. Layers of Fear was a great game and I really appreciate it, but I kinda felt like I was destined to win it at some point (too many giveaways for it and low amount of entries). The Walking Dead was a game I wasn't sure I would enjoy, but I tried here with success and tried playing afterwards... and I don't regret it. Soulcalibur is a really expensive game that really cheered my day up, but I haven't played that much because I am waiting for a friend to get it, so we play together (like most of the multiplayer games I have won).

RIP I knew this was coming so I'll have to explain this: I have a back injury that makes me unable to sit in a chair. Similar to sciatica but apparently long term since it refuses to go away. So it's really hard to play my "heavy" games right now because I'll have to lie or sit in bed while my PC computer screen is tilted so I can see it. But that way the text is too small to read on some games, and GreedFall is an absolute terrible case in that regard because the text there is really not big.
I postponed starting the game so I could enjoy it properly when I can finally sit without worry again, but yesterday actually I decided enough time had gone so I've played half an hour now. Maybe it'll become a favorite later. I promise I will do this game proper justice eventually! :(

Noooooooo!! No explanation needed, I was just joking :(. I know that the ideal is to play your wins, but for me it doesn't have to be soon (sometimes you just don't feel in the mood for some kind of games, sometimes you wait for a friend to get it, or sometimes you just can't... for now).

Anyways, i'm sorry to hear that, it must be really tough for someone who enjoys games :(. I hope you get better, and don't rush it :).

It still feels pretty bad to let a win like that sit unplayed, especially when you really want to play it but you can't! At least it does for me. I know people are going to wonder why I'm so lazy in playing that one game while being at 100% completion with almost every other win so that's why :)

My favourite is definitely Higurashi chapter 1. Its what got me started into the series that I absolutely love, without it I probably would've kept putting off buying it all. My favourite surprise though was lost in harmony, it was just 1 I entered just because I wanted to enter something and it sounded alright. While it was very short I enjoyed myself playing it and the music was very nice and the story was too

Probably Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. It was about that time I tried to start playing visual novels. And after that game I had played plenty of them.
Other one is Injustice 2. I havent played many fighting games because Im really bad with them. But I managed that one and thought it had pretty good mechanics.

Huge congratz on Ace Attorney, it's my favorite game franchise of all time and I own an IKEA Detolf full of AA merch. Would love to win the PC port and replay it but winning would take the opportunity from someone else to play it for the first time.

For me, probably "The Talos Principle". I love First person puzzle games, and I consider it the best game in that sort of genre. Back when I won it, the game would always be quite expensive, so even though it was a game I knew I wanted to play, I probably would have waited much longer to play it.

Another would be "Mark of The Ninja" (my second win). I love stealth games, and this is not only an amazing 2d stealth game, but it's before I even knew stealth games were a thing i love. Back then, my library was also quite small, so I think that adds to my appreciation towards that win.

There are so many other wins I've been happy with though, so I really do appreciate them all.

My favourite win wasn't actually a win it was a direct gift from a certain scholar and high priest of Barbie for giving them a tiny bit of helpful advice regarding imgur and how to embed pictures after there was a change on the site.

Starbound

And that was back in the day when it was still a full price title. I've had it on the top of my wishlist for at least 2 years but was always too stingy to buy it myself.

I have to admit I have many wins that haven't gotten the attention they deserve yet but this baby, I treated her right.

Maaaan, I've won so many great games, many I could have never had the chance to enjoy otherwise at the time I did (I'm more fortunate in terms of finances these days than I was years ago). I'm super grateful for all of my wins, but a few of them really stand out as games that gave me the most "value" in entertainment.

Slay the Spire, Monster Hunter World, Tales of Berseria, DOOM, The Wolf Among Us, SOMA, fault, Mad Max, DmC Devil May Cry, Alien Isolation, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Portal, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Tomb Raider...

You'll notice these are mostly AAA games, but that's because I could have never afforded those at the time. I always aimed for those games because it's the kind of thing I'd only ever get to play if I won them - and when I did, it was such a thrill to get to play them.

Of all of them though, I think Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is the game I've enjoyed the most.

My first win was Rocket League. I had just joined the site and had no clue what I was getting in to. That was a pretty good first introduction to space cat.

My first win was FEZ. I didn't know a thing about it, now I don't even know why I entered to that GA in first place, but I'm happy I did because when I won I was incredibly rejoiced. I claimed it, installed it and then... nothing. Didn't play it until some weeks later, a weekend my girlfriend went the night out with her friends and I just stood home. Tried it out of curiosity but got instantly sucked into the wonderful world the game brings us. It was breaking dawn when my GF came back home and found me still playing; she sat next to me and we played together until I finished it for the second time in a row. Then she told me that she would have loved to stay home playing with me instead of going out, not because her night was bad but because the game was just TOO good.
So I guess, yeah, FEZ is my favourite win.
