No. Although I do enter even though it might take me a few months to get around to the game. Getting older and more responsible is a major detriment to avaiable game time. :-P

Keep on working hard and compiling a backlog of games so when you retire you have all the entertainment you need.

It really isn't. If you don't want the game or if you never plan on playing/enjoying it, then why do you deserve to have it instead of someone who might have been willing to murder someone for that game?

Absolutely not, sir!

When I first joined SG I was quite indiscriminate with which giveaways I entered, but I've become a lot more selective now. In fact, I often don't even enter for games that are on my wishlist despite having 300 points, purely because I've got a huge backlist of games that I still need to play.

I'm the opposite. I was selective at first, but then lowered my expectations. Now I join every game, that could run on my old laptop and I'm mildly interested in.

Waits for someone to say YES so admin/mods can ban them :P

But no, I always go for something that interests me, at the moment I have only won DOTA 2 but been unable to get a chance to play it yet due to all the Skyrimming, XCOMing and L4Ding I am doing :P

Admin/mods can't ban for it. It's user choice which giveaway to enter, since he has only 300 points to spent on. They can ban if you'll not activate the game on the account, but not for entering on giveaways you are really not interested in. It's not their business, to be honest and they can do nothing about it. Read rules before talking. Thanks.

Dat time of the month huh?

See that :P at the end of that statement = joke. You know maybe look up some information about smilies before replying. Thanks.

Also its courtesy, there have been people who win the titles but end up giving the key or gift to someone else (not regifting) essentially not activating on their accounts, which is now a no no here. So yes they can ban people who went for titles they have no interest in, as they are not going to use the game/key/gift on their accounts.

You shouldn't talk about courtesy after the way you started your comment. Seriously, it's not polite at all.

Children grow up and learn humour. It's amazing.

My comment didn't start bad, in your heads it started bad. If you can't understand grammar perhaps yourself and Ms High and Mighty up there should take her advice and not say anything.

HINT: "But no," also clarifies the first sentence was in jest.

I didn't know Altair had multiple heads. I have never played AC but I always assumed he was a human. Then again, they are fighting over a Magic apple so I guess anything goes.

I use giveaways as a way to discover new games that I didn't originally PLAN on buying.

I'll check the game on Steam and if it looks interesting only then will I enter.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Not exactly. I enter giveaways for games which I wouldn't try out if I wouldn't win them. I play my won games though, but it's a really good question if I would play them otherwise.

Never, I only enter to what I want to play. Even if i'm at max points. I don't like lowering the chances of people who really want some game.

No, though I sometimes enter for games that I don't know if I'll like or not, simply because they seem interesting or different in some way. This may result (and unfortunately has on a couple of occasions) in winning some games that I do not end up enjoying, but as an aspiring game developer, it should at least prove valuable in terms of seeing what is out there and forming better informed opinions about various aspects of game design that I encounter by examining exactly why I don't like aspects of the games.

It may also appear that I am not interested in playing many of my won games due to not having played them in the months that have passed since winning them. However, I fully intent to play all of them when I get the time, and in some cases the hardware, to do so.

No I don't, but I often enter games that appeal to me with almost no info whatsoever, so I'm dissapointed sometimes. I'm tryining no to do that anymore, but sometimes is oh, this looks great, let's enter!
